In the late afternoon, I started playing PSO, taking on the Ultimate Ruins. Despite not being that hard, I did die a couple of times, and played for many hours.
I started at LV 119, and leveled up to LV 120 early in Ruins 3.
The first time I faced Dark Falz I got to the fourth phase, and got killed by one of those rocks. Strange.
Other times I once got killed in the first phase by Darvants, and other times I got killed later, by Darvants, and once by Dark Falz' HP steal attack.
I will describe my strategy and what he does.
Equipment:
Red Saber +39
PARASITE WEAR: Nelgal
-Elf/Arm++
-Super/Resist
-Super/Resist
-Perfect/Resist
Secret Gear
First phase:
Kill something like 10 Darvants which have purple smoke in them. Pretty straightforward, just never stay still except to cast Resta!
Second phase:
He will cast Rafoie and Rabarta after having released several Darvants through one of the dragon heads. When he's severely damaged, he will release his dark shower attack.
Cast Zalure on one of the dragon heads, and do two normal-hard-hard combos on him. Maybe a third, if you see it fit. Then cast Rabarta 3 times to get rid of (most) Darvants. Heal when necessary, and shake your diagonal stick when frozen.
Also, be careful to not get behind his butt!
Third phase:
He will move really fast at most times, creating several after-images that fade quickly as he does. He will cast multiple Rafoie spells with his right arm, and multiple Rabarta spells with his left arm. Look at your radar to see something weird while he casts them.
After casting them, three Darvants raise from the ground in a triangle around you, often making targetting Dark Falz difficult. They move in only one direction, and go away after a couple of seconds. Be very careful when Rabarta is cast, you will often be frozen! Get out of there immediately or the Darvants will kill you!
Now, as for attacking, cast Zalure on him first when he's targetable, and hit him as much as possible. Often, he will chrash his body into the ground, affecting you with a "Slow" status, before releasing a dark shower attack. If you are just in front of him, doing damage while he chrashes his body, don't bother casting Anti. If you're further away from him, cast Anti and run to him to give him some slashes. You will have a good chance to evade his dark shower attack this way.
When he's low on health, he will steal over half of your HP. If you have (near) full HP, don't bother, and just slash away, else, heal immediately! Despite sucking something like 500 HP from you, it will heal him for a whopping 1200 HP! This is why you must always damage him as much as possible.
As always, during the fight, heal when necessary, keeping your HP at least close enough to full (100-200 HP from max).
Fourth phase:
Now it gets easier, at least for me. Change your Super/Resist units by two Resist/Devil units. At first, I changed them to Resist/Holy units. In this battle, keep your HP full AT ALL TIMES.
He will start with a slash attack that will take off about 700 HP. He might slash more than once, but you will lie down, so it doesn't matter.
If Dark Falz isn't close to you, release a couple Foie spells on him. Did 109 damage for me. If he does get close, hack away if he's vulnerable, and if he's not, cast Zalure if it looks like you will be able to slash at him.
Then he will get in the air. Start running along with the ring. You must start running at least before he launches his attack. His attack is several light rocks thrown at you. Unlike former difficulties, they won't fly by you after you dodge them, but they will seem to bounce on the invisible walls of the ring, following you. There's a good chance that you'll be hit by the last one, or even sooner, smacking you to the ground while losing most of your HP. Then Dark Falz casts Grants, but it won't affect you since you just were on the floor. This is when I decided that I best had two Resist/Devil units instead of Resist/Holy units. If you do manage to get away from the rocks, though, you will find out that his Grants isn't that strong. It did 507-508 damage to me, with a ELT of 9.
After either of these attacks, heal fully. Then the cycle repeats.
After having lost many HP, he will steal your soul for a while. Damage him with Foie for the amount that one cast of Resta heals you. Heal, and if you have time, do this again. Then he will fly up, release a slow Megid on you. This Megid spell actually works! Thankfully, I haven't had to experience that, though. Just keep running to dodge it! Then he will cast Grants, and return your soul. Heal fully, and then cast Foie as many times as you can, and attack him! He will do his usual cycle again one time, before stealing your seal again and doing the above once more.
My Red Saber laid the final blow, and Rico's soul was saved.
The ending, instead of showing your character's travels, showed the travels of Rico.
I have made pictures of the ending with the webcam of my siblings. It's not so good quality, but still not that bad, as I had made the room dark.
I was done with all this about 7 hours after starting.
I will upload the Ultimate Ruins' Rico's pod messages and the ending pictures tomorrow on my script site.
[Edit by Benoit on [TIME]1091754866[/TIME]]

[Edit by Benoit on [TIME]1092131096[/TIME]]
