Cause not all of them are out to destroy PSO. I have plenty of experience on hackers. Dating waaaaay back to Diablo. I used to be a hacker too. And I did it to enjoy the game that I sluaghtered millins of times without hacking with programs like BoBaFeTT or Diablo Trainer 9.0+ Not all of them are bad. You just being biased.

Hubbs, what you're not seeming to grasp is the fact that any form of hacking is still hacking!!! In case you don't know, I'll break down the core purpose of what hacking is intended to be: to alter the game in favor of one player or player(s). So what? you say. Does a little cheating harm a game? Yes! It makes the game unenjoyable for people who play fairly. What merit does getting to a high level or getting a good item hold if it can be accomplished with a few minutes of hacking? What fun is that?
You seem to think that hacking is "part of the game" and that it's okay if lots of people do it. Well, number one, it's not a natural function of the game and number two, you won't find any support for cheating here, much less admiration for your hacking "skills". If you think hacking is fun, then I guess ruining games is your idea of entertainment.

You're applying too much of "everyday communication" rules they teach to us autistics. These rules don't apply on everything.
What many, many people forget is that if you cheat, no matter what purpose you use it for, it still IS CHEATING, and CHEATING IS BAD. Why the hell do so much people fail to get that? In no context whatsoever, is cheating considered good. It's still cheating! Cheating on your wife, for instance, would in no context be considered good, would it?
That being said, even the so-called "good" hackers are still hackers and ruining the game in a way. There is no reason to defend them.

It's the trust factor. You can't trust people because you don't know whether they hack or not, and that actually happens to be important to people who play legit. And since when were we talking about Diablo? We're talking about PSO. And while you said you no longer hack Diablo, you never mentioned whether you hack PSO. And I shall tell you why you don't have fun when playing with hackers: they didn't get to where they are by fair means! Like I said before, what's the merit of leveling up when you can just hack it. Also, as someone has said before, the fun of PSO is getting your ass kicked by monsters, then getting so you can kick their ass. Whats the point if you can take out a room full of enemies with one shot?
Lastly, though some hackers may not screw you over directly, their cheating is doing it already. Why do they cheat just so they can be good at a game? Part of the fun of PSO is the leveling up part!
Cheating is cheating.

To recap:
Our point (Benoit, Laconian Shot, me and anyone else who decides to back our point up)
Hacking is bad. Those who hack are not enhancing gameplay but cheating those who have put hard work and effort out of a good experience. Hackers are either too lazy to try to get good, have to much time on their hands or both. I think that's a brief summary of our point (feel free to add)
Hubbs's point (Ghost and anyone else who thinks hacking benefits gameplay)
Hacking is good. It enhances gameplay and let's you do nearly anything you want. Hackers are not bad, but just looking for some more fun. (as long as they don't screw your character over) Hacking is a mixed bag. It can be used or abused.
I've got a question, Hubbs.
How do you define the proper use and improper use of hacking? I'm very interested to hear what you say.
In my oppinion, cheating is cheating, no matter if you've played the game through before. Your still ruining peoples honest attempts at playing. If you've played the game before and you are bored with it as it is... you need a new game. You shouldn't try and enhance the game to entertain yourself at the expense of others.

[Edit by Siren on [TIME]1077854458[/TIME]]

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STOP ASSUMING WHAT I AM SAYING!!! I never said hacking benefits gameplay!!! I have said it before and I'll say it one more time!!! HACKING IS A DOUBLE EDGE SWORD!!!!! If you don''t understand the Double Edge Sword, then go look it up!!!! If anything I might've hinted that it enhances gameplay.
As for your question, I will calm down and answer it professtionally. Proper uses of hacking like I already said was to accomplish things that you aren't skilled enought to do or get things you can't get any other way.. Things like defeat that nearly undefeatable boss, getting that one Pokemon(Mew) that can only be accessed by using the gameshark, having fun and making weapons in diablo just to see what they can do, or having a freindly helpful hacker who has infinite scape dolls when you have no money to get any. Improper, well do I really need to explain this. Townkilling, PKing, Stolen items, deleted characters, abusive players on MMORPG's.
And you people just don't seem to undrestand. I am merely stating facts so you can ge off the backs of hacers who just want to play the game the way they want to. They have that right. You don't have the right to ridicule them unless they did you harm. What on hacker did to you doesn't mean all hacker will do that to you. I merely look at all points of view. Do not ridicule me becuase I seem like I am defending something you hate.
[Edit by HuBBsDoctor on [TIME]1077855510[/TIME]]

[Edit by HuBBsDoctor on [TIME]1077856037[/TIME]]

I think that HuBBs is trying to defend people who use hack for themselfs, without ruining other people's games. But still remain the fact that I always had something agains cheater on online games, because the true spirit of online play, well, of anything played with another human, is the confrontation of skills, not only the virtual ones, but the real ones, if I have a super character which I obtained legitly I can impress people, as I was impressed by other supers when I was a newby.
I don't have much experience playing online with PSO (unfortunatly my DC broke too early), but I had a damn good time playing Ultima Online, it's not that differen after all, you build your character, obtain better equipment, and kick monster asses, or other people asses. Whenever I encountered a cheater, I alwayse felt anger, because all the time spent building a character was worthless in front of this peoples. Playing online is both for fun AND fame, and if I play fair I demand that other play fair. So, cheaters should only go with cheaters.
The sum is, cheaters ruin other people's fun. But it's not to the point of being so angry with someone who do it for himself, and not to pretend to be something he isn't.

Unfortunately, cheaters on PSO always enter legit teams...and they never ask permission. They think they have the right to destroy our fun. That makes me angry...If I name a team "LEGIT ONLY", I don't want dupers nor cheaters...but some cheater always join.
Moreover...remember to read the term of use you must sign and accept while buying or renewing your HL: it's stated that noone has the right to hack. You should not use any code nor exploit any bug the very moment you connect and play online...
I agree with Goldark: I spent much times on PSO, that's why I'm a good player...and I like that other players appreciate this as much as I admired the great players before me. But how can newbies know who is really able, if they cannot say a legit from a hacker? Someone don't even know hackers exists...
I only ask that cheaters admit they have cheated and stay away from legit teams.

So cheating in games is also wrong.
Except...
If you play through a game once, and hack so you have unlimited life or something, that's okay -> it only affects you, and you did play through the game fair once.
But cheating on a ONLINE game is big no-no. It will ALWAYS affect others too, whatever you are doing.
So if a person is tired of a online game, you need a new game, instead of ruining the game's economy and social environment.

And Benoit, you do not rmember Beamscythe? If you can't get the item, defeat that boss etc. then don't hack your way out. That's pure cheating. If you can't win with poker, you're not allowed to cheat, are you?
That applies to cases where it IS possible to get the item in-game. If we're talking about Mew, it's impossible to get in-game, and just unfair.
