does anyone know if it is possible to network a couple gamecube versions of PSO for offline play?
and also...
The limit of characters in a game is 4, online or offline, right?

You can do multiplayer offline but not in network with another gamecube version unless you go online.
I have the gamecube version. :~

I have the 1&2plus version for gamecube and I've only played it offline so far, but my brother asked me if we could network a couple and play 8 player. I told him the max is 4 player, but it might be possible to link the two gamecubes so at least we wouldn't have to play splitscreen anymore.
I guess it's not.
thanks.
oh another question...
is PSO 3 completely turn based play? or is there a part where you can play like PSO 1&2?

Turn based mostly.
Only when you walk around the entrance (where you meet the chief and your party).

Ep 3 is wholly turn-based during combat, where you fight your opponent with your cards.
However, there is Pioneer 2 where you can control your character, not unlike a lobby. Here you can chat to your Story Characters and other NPCs.
It may also be noted that you never fight with your character. You always control a Story Character, you take role of Commander.

I don't think networking can be done. Due to the max character restriction. To have 8 players at once would require a Lobby...

From what I hear the unofficial server is quite laggy and the drop rates are insanely easy on some ids and impossible on others. Pick the wrong id and you will never get anything good to drop unless you have the luck of the gods.

The only up point is that the server has a load of missions the official one doesn't.

Oh did i mention the dc ver1 level of hax going on. fsods bsods and noling is all too common with little support for reversing the effects.
