Phantasy Star MMORPG (what should have been done)

Postby halla » Mon Apr 04, 2005 6:38 am

Ever play PSO and be dissapointed its way different from the original series? Ever think of another way it should have been done. I always thought it should have been a MMORPG where thousands of players can create their player from all the races of PS and travel throughout the cities and worlds of PS and live the games. Since they did not do this with PSO and PSU will more less be a another PSO from what I have heard/seen I have taken it upon myself to do this myself.
I am working on a MMORPG of Phantasy Star. I do not have a name yet so i am referring to it as that. This game will be like I stated above. You will choose a race when you make your character and play in the PS worlds. Travel through space, join the hunters guild, do quests, and so much more. Take note this project is still in early development but to make it better and speed up the process some I am looking for quality help.
I am looking for spriters, mappers, gui artists, webmasters, music and so on to make this game live up to the Phantasy Star name.
If you are skilled in any of these areas or just wish to help contact me or reply...
aim: hallanhype
msn:
email:
Also here is a screenshot to show that work has been done. Currently have server and client working and connecting. Have chat, basic attacking, basic monsters and more. This SS shows why I need help graphic wise im not skilled in that department. The player sprites and monsters in the SS are just fillers for now until ones are made... the map was done by me and also just a filler.
Image
Anyways that shows progress so far and with your help we can make this project be very good.

This is why newbies shouldn't be alowed to make topics, they make an intersting topic idea and ruin it with there own piece of crap...

What is that supposed to mean?
So you know this game is not using rpgmaker or some program it is all coded. Also its online where 100s or thousands of people can play together. As I said its early in development so ignore the graphics and thats why I posted here to get people to work on the graphics.
So if you thought it was a rpgmaker game or something its not. Or if your just being an ass dont expect to beta test ;)
[Edit by halla on [TIME]1112646962[/TIME]]

How long have you been doing this project?
Coding needs compiler. Compiling would take a long time, because the whole computer generates on 1s and 0s.
-Book
For a while now. I do have compiled versions of the server and client. Right now connecting works and all. I have a lot of work done just need to expand on it and add more features and all that.
So right now connecting to server works, can chat with others, can battle monsters with normal attacking, hp... mp works fine. You can level up and all. I got a good amount done.

That HUD looks familiar...
Is that the Mirage Online engine?
Man, it's been years since I've been on there, haven't really tried it anymore when it went down for maintenance... always been curious wether they're still running there.
[Edit by H Hog on [TIME]1112654771[/TIME]]

Gm.. you have no right to say that to Halla.
Actually, He is a long standing PSDB member who migrated here.
Your game wasn't any better..
He is TRYING, that is all that matters.
I defended your game the same way, You have no right to insult Halla for her idea.

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1112677728[/TIME]]

While I'm not the biggest fan of MMORPGs, this game sounds interesting. I honestly think the concept seems a little typical of an MMORPG, but I think it would be worth some of my time to check out, considering it's about Phantasy Star...
GM, you have absolutely no room to talk. First of all, she is using coding. This something we simply don't see anymore, and not though not devalue the work on RPGMaker, which can showcase some very nice work (see: Phantasy Star: Fallen Planet), coding has more aptitude for a generally nicer game. Also, coding takes alot more skill than making a game through RPG Maker... the fact that she is coding and the progress she has made shows that she much more skill than you.

Coding is hard...
You have to have a compiler.
And you have to program actions with 1s and 0s, then you make letters show (the letters also have to be programmed/back uped by the 1s and 0s.)
It takes a lot of skill coding.
[Edit by Mage1 on [TIME]1112671727[/TIME]]

It honestly sounds like a great idea, and I would like to help, but everything you said isn't something to do... unless I could be one of the beta testers (I think that's what they're called, you know the ones that check for glitches and stuff like that) that's probably the only thing I would be good at, but anyway, I'm glad you thought about something like that.

I am not good at designing so much, but I am a good gamer.
I can help you in beta-testing.
Makin sure there are no bugs, such as wacking in the air off of a cliff when your not supposed to.
Thanks for posting a new MMORPG.

Just to clear up im Male.
Also I will look here when beta testing comes. Right now I need positions mentioned though. Big thing is artists since im not artistic myself.
The idea is like most MMORPGs but can always change anything can be done or added and this game will be constantly updated to keep player interest. It will be available before fully being done and then updates will add new monsters, towns maps and so on.
Any ideas let me know.
