Khyron, you're an idiot. Rockstar didn't make the patch to begin with, and they certainly didn't distribute it. It's a hack. Yeah, the material (which isn't any more graphic than an R-rated movie) is on the discs, but all pointers are deleted and it can't be accessed without using illegal 3rd party modification.
Yeah, they were dumb for leaving the elements in there (every game has traces of deleted concepts on the final disc), but you're even dumber for thinking they made the modification which unlocked the content.
Idiot...
-Corey

So I guess she's going to see indecent things for children by your definition right? I feel for your kids.. I really do.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you argueing that a sex scene that has to be unlocked by a third party patch is more damaging to kids then watching some gangbanger slaughter pedestrians?
Of course, this whole situation is ludicrous anyway. The same people who are whining about the unlockable content are the people who bought their 13 year old kids the game.

Rockstar's programmers made it to begin with and they put that stuff on the CD.
That makes Rockstar at fault. The company is responsible for the employees.
But I forget, such simple logic is beyond certain people.
Once again, you refuse to see simple logic just to try and fight. Sad.
It's a good thing I really don't care what you think. ^^ I'm just happy seeing how pathetic it is.

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1122939360[/TIME]]

So the company isn't responsible for what it's employees do?
Wow, then that means management in any company isn't responsible for what the employees do!
What a great concept Parn! Business is great now. Management aren't responsible!
So that means, schools can't be sued for their teachings abusing kids, Nor can teachers be sued for not watching a kid and the kid hurts himself..
Military Commanders aren't responsible for their men or troops
Wow.. What a perfect world you live in Parn. No one's responsible for anyone! What a perfect lawless world.
I sure wanna live in that! ^^
:D #) :(

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1122948950[/TIME]]

Do I think that Rockstar shouldn't have left that content in the game?
I think Rockstar should NOT have left that content in the game. I'm also a member of the web site Simon Wai's Sonic 2 Beta Site, which has shown that people will break into games like that, even if they're over five years old! In other words, Rockstar should not have expected to keep that segment under wraps for any length of time.
Do I really care that much?
NO! Simply put, as stated hundreds upon hundreds of times RIGHT HERE, it's not as though this additional content should puch anyone over the edge that hasn't been already (unless they have a complete lack of perspective); the new content is probably LESS offensive than anything else seen in any of these games.
Anyway, I wouldn't have bought the game, regardless of the hidden content.

This reminds me of the whole Mortal Kombat thing back in the day, when the infamous "blood code" was made widespread for the Genesis release.
I don't like their content, but Rockstar is hardly guilty here. Their games are designed from ground up to be violent and crude. Quite frankly, this nudity thing is irrelevant. If you're buying your kids a game that involves committing countless felonies and bludgeoning people to death, and you get upset because it shows some genitalia, you have issues.
This nudity issue is merely a case of seeing dollar signs and hearing CHA-CHING!

Khyron, you have a tendancy to take what someone says and apply it to all sorts of situations that are quite unrelated. Talk about taking what one says out of context.
Let's face it, the content was never meant to be found. It was probably toyed with at early stages of development, then discarded for whatever reason. As PSP said, all traces were erased, though the actual content and coding was not, perhaps due to time issues or some other concerns. However, there were no traces remaining; no way for a casual gamer to access it conventionally. The only way that knowledge of this content could become public is either an incredibly thorough hacking or a leak from development staff. Two unlikely occurences. As such, it's hard to place concrete blame on Rockstar except for their negligence... they never intended gamers to find this content, though it should've been taken out.
Not that I have a lot of respect for Rockstar anyway... them seem to enjoy pandering to stupid people's need to do the same thing repeatdely. In fact, it's surprising that I'm defending an issue that they probably should've dealt with. However, it's not as if they went and released the patch themselves.
Though, once again, any [hidden] sexual content this game has is probably less damaging then the racial slurs and off-the-wall violence. What a lack of priorities.

Whatever. Virgins are so offended over sexual content...
-Corey
P.S. - Ignore the fact that you originally stated Rockstar released the patch themselves, and that the hack needed to access the materials is in fact illegal...
[Edit by PSP on [TIME]1122952293[/TIME]]

What the hell are you talking about? Instead, lets hope they rob a bank and shoot a couple cops![/sarcasm]
And yes...PSP, that game to movie relation is quite smart. If kids are able to watch it in movies, then whats so bad about games? Ratings mean something...and in fact, I don't believe the games should be taken off the shelves. Sex in media is for the mature, thats why they make it for the mature, and thats why they sell it for the mature. And if people think their kids are mature enough to see it, then so be it, they will see it. Perhaps there are other solutions? Like putting the game in that back room of the movie store that says "adults only".
Saying that the sex is "oh so much worse" than the killing is wrong. In fact, killing should be the main focus. Taking a life, especially from someone that is not a criminal is the worst thing a child can see. And if you don't want your kids to witness something before the "mature age", it should be that.

When we're talking about moral content, it's suffice to say that killing another human being is more damaging to an "innocent" little kid then acts of sex are. It's not an issue of imitation, it's an issue of moral content.
Of course, graphic violence has its place. The fact that we don't live in a pacifist society, nor will we ever, means that graphic violence is all around us and cannot be ignored. However, I would think that parents, ideally, would prefer not to expose a kid to graphical violence if he's not ready to see it. If you buy a 13 year old kid a game meant for an older demographic, what will he/she make of it?

Where do you get off thinking that EVERY parent that buys their kids a game knows what it's about?
I'm only 15, so when I went to purchase San Andreas, I had to have someone 17+ to get it, So I took my mom, grabbed the game, and put it on the counter. And every one of those times, the parent won't give the game a second thought, or bother looking into it. They have little or no idea as to what the game contains.
And besides, more kids will want to buy the game, because things like violence, murder, sex, and drugs are considered "Gangsta". And you can blame ALL of that on modern hip-hop, my friend =)

The mods aren't illegal. Rockstar condones and encourages 3rd-party mod makers.
Then why does their End-User License Agreement (EULA) state you are "purchasing the right to play it, but not modify it, by modifying these files you are breaking the license agreement and therefore Rockstar have no liability" when you install the game? Any modification of the files is a violation of the terms a user agrees to upon installation, hence it is illegal. That's the black and white of it.
Now, if you can show me something that contradicts that from a reliable source, I'm more than willing to read it and take it under consideration.

You're 100%... misinformed. Where do you get off thinking that EVERY parent that buys their kids a game knows what it's about?

Because it's simply a matter of literacy? It's not like the box is completely black with no text, it quite plainly explains the purpose of the game as well as the reasons for the rating (which is pretty prominent on the box). Not to mention, you can ask a salesperson and they'll gladly explain if the game is appropriate or not for a certain age, mainly because if they lie they'll lose their job when the parent comes back and complains :P
I'm only 15, so when I went to purchase San Andreas, I had to have someone 17+ to get it, So I took my mom, grabbed the game, and put it on the counter. I was taught the difference between right and wrong, reality and fiction, and such things never had any adverse effect of me. I hope the same can be said of you, personally.
In the end, age is nothing. I've known plenty of 'children' who acted like adults and vice-versa. The fact that I've played such games for years doesn't mean I'm gonna pull my 9mm on the street and open fire. If you're not mature enough to handle such content, then your mother should exercise her ability to read and deny you the game. If you are mature enough, who cares what your age is? I sure as hell don't.
People need to grow up. There's so much wrong in the world and here we are having debates over video games. Jeez, if you don't like them, DON'T BUY THEM. It's pretty damned simple if you ask me.
-Corey
