The new Legend of Zelda game

Postby Benoit » Mon Feb 21, 2005 6:02 pm

I came across this article on IGN about the game. I haven't been able to find it on GameSpot, and I don't trust IGN that much, so I'm not sure if it's true.
If it is, it's nice, though, because it continues the great thing that are chronologically tied Legend of Zelda games.
I liked Wind Waker a lot. It had great ideas, but it's too bad that half of them weren't worked out that well.
Like only one thing to do in each square of the map.
The story taking way too much after Ocarina of Time, though Ocarina of Time is guilty of this as well, in regards to A Link to the Past.
There are also two dungeons missing in the game. It always keeps with the theme of the Triforce, usually, but in two stages of the game, the third dungeon was missing.
This is why I fear what Aonuma will do to the new game. His worst flaw is not taking the time to finish it. Miyamoto would push back the release data as it was needed, but Wind Waker was right on time, which is an exception in the Legend of Zelda series.
At least it looks like they will expand Hyrule. It did always feel a little small in Ocarina of Time.

Hmm. Judging from the screenshots of the next installment of the LoZ (Legend of Zelda) franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto has planned a "mature" setting for this one.
I think this is down to the fact that Rockstar's GTA series, which basically borrows Zelda-type gameplay mixed with a hostile enviroment filled with guns and violence, has generated a lot of popularity with most video gamers due to its matured content and the mass popularity of the Western ghetto culture.

[Edit by ThePeaGuy on [TIME]1109113587[/TIME]]

I think it's mostly because of the crybabies that whined about the young Link in Wind Waker.

But people who judge it just because of its cel-shaded appearance alone is just ridiculous.

The newest zelda, is supposed to be the one that was originally first for gamecube.....it will have graphics that resemble link from Smash Brothers........and put the game in a mature LOOKING setting....it'll still be link...no matter if he looks like a cartoon, or a swank 80s RPG Uber Hero. THeres a cool screenshot I saw somewhere of Link riding through the forest on a horse, and I kinda stared for awhile, its that bitchin'
on a side note thingy.....check out minnish cap for GBA, it makes me laugh!

I've heard that the new Zelda is going to go back to the style of OoT. That would be great, as OoT was the best N64 game of all time, and the 2nd best Zelda (LttP was #1, and #2 out of EVERY game)

The article is refferring to not the upcoming mature zelda as the sequel to WW but the game after that.

Not true.

is currently overseeing the new GameCube Legend of Zelda. "I'm two-hundred percent involved in its development," he told the publication.
Shigeru Miyamoto's right-hand man was slim on details about the game. "The next episode in the Zelda series for GameCube is already coming, but I can't say absolutely anything about it," he explained. "You know the deal -- even the title and theme are still secret."
However, he did confirm two never-before-known facts about the project. "The next grand Zelda game, which follows chronologically after the Wind Waker, will be released at the end of 2005 in Japan," Aonuma revealed. The late 2005 release date in Japan would indicate that a simultaneous launch in the US could be planned.

This is clearly about the 'mature', GameCube Legend of Zelda.

Aonuma also spoke on a Legend of Zelda title for Nintendo DS.

This clearly indicates that the previous commentary wasn't about the DS Legend of Zelda.

IGN's articles and interviews are mostly incomplete and cluddered. They bundled it up all together and usually give off wrong impressions.

I was a whiner about the "new" Link. It pissed me off. Like...what is this? Legend of Zelda, not Super Mario World...
This new Zelda looks like it will push the limits of realism in a world...I look forward to it.

First off, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was cel-shaded, whoopdee frick...the first zelda was cartoony, I mean cmon .....nothing in that game was ...evil looking, not even gannon....let nintendo experiment, they deserve to, and they pulled it off either way...the game was still neato!
The newest one appears like it will be more like, the mature gamer's zelda again...I reccomend everyone look at the screenshot w/ link in the forest, you will all drool, pee your pants, faint, or do a mixture of these.
I liked that 4 swords game on gamecube, that was fun to goof w/, but we still should get a zelda w/ the overhead GFX going again. Maybe like how they're doing w/ Ys VI!....that will be the perfect modern Action/RPG, finally. Because, theyre not dumbin' up everything w/ menus, skills, and whatnot.......you have HP, if you dont get that part of the game, dont turn on a system ever again.....:)
Id like to see a new zelda on gamecube w/ the overhead gameplay, just w/ nice graphics, hell id settle for the GFX similar to Ragnorok Online, those would be excellent for a zelda game!
Speakin of those GFX, tales of eternia, anyone know anything useful?

it wasn't about the game itself. When the new Zelda came out for N64...it really revolutionized games in that sense. The GC gave them the opportunity to really make that feel shine. And now it looks like they may have done it.

I saw a trailer for the new one for GC you could shoot arrows while riding our horse!

Yeah, that would make sense to have, since, Link = great warrior, and....well....non-great warriors can pull of riding shots...its only fair!
Maybe in this one youll be able to jump all the time. I like hopping around in games that let you jump.
