Okay, as you all know, the board has actually had one of the highest post spikes in recent memory. There are posts up the wazoo, but the forum has actually been quite lax in content.<p>We have many one-two sentence (God forbid, sometimes we have one of two <b>word</b> posts), and it takes away from the enjoyment. If you have nothing constructive to respond with, don't at all. <p>You don't have to respond to everything; we still know you exist. Instead of responding to a bunch of posts, think about what is being said and form one or two large, constructive posts. This adds to everyone's enjoyment in discussion. I have quite a few posts, but my post rate hasn't grown fast like some individuals. I think about what I have to say, and I like to be a selective poster (besides being a little quiet).<p>I won't mention any names of the culprits as I don't want to drive anyone out, but I for one don't enjoy sifting through a bunch of garbage post. <p>Please, etiquette.

I could not agree more. I was out for two days, and some individuals went up 200+ posts. I wont mention any individuals either, but the threads such as bored should be eliminated. Siren, thank-you for sticking your face out to get slapped by right-wing post-whores. I will join you in such an operation.

You have a good point. Ever since I have seen bored it started. what made me go to bored was that nobody was posting on the Phantasy star online topic for a few WEEKS! and that also made me not go to the Phantasy star forum and the Fan Stuff forum.<br>

I couldn't agree with you more, Siren. <p>My suggestion to Missagh, if he reads this topic in regards to the Bored thread, is to delete the current one and replace it with a thread dedicated to spam that doesn't affect the user's post count. If people want to post two words crap, then this thread would be the ideal place to do it.<p>

Siren, you're one of the posters here that I respect the most, and as such I really appreciate you having stated your call to moderation in an educated manner.<p>Making a call like you did, with manners and matter-of-factly, is the right way to do things, you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. <p>On the other side, people who just break into a thread that obviously was meant to have no sense and come all high and mighty so everyone see how "mature" they are are only making fools of themselves. Some people really need to learn that the way you ask for things will affect directly the way you receive them, or what you receive altogether.<p>My proposal would be resetting/cleaning the bored thread every 8 pages or so, if only so people wanting in the Bored thread can freely leave their sanity at the door without having the need of a MAP to see what's the current non-topic discussed at the moment... but then that decision is up to Missagh, not me. <p>Finally, I would like to add that I find both extremes abhorring, I find excessive spam as dull as I find forum nazism repulsive.

Well you all know where I stand in the matter, especially Siren, LS and LC.<p>Gipper, this is what we're talking about: excessive posting is annoying and just plain bad manners. It doesn't contribute and doesn't really add to the forum, it just takes up bandwidth and database memory. Now if you posted 200+ messages in three days that contributed to the forum, that's great. MY computer is sort of fast, but had no lag when the post count went up. You all should dump dial-up and get a cable or DSL connection. Or at least get more ROM for your computer.

Second, one doesn't update their ROM, they update their RAM.<p>Read Only Memory isn't expandable by purchasing it.....<br>Random Access Memory is, but ram wont speed up downloading on a forum...

Even a thread like "Bored" needs some guidelines and etiquette, and that line was crossed when people were trying for the "1000th post" contest. Ein orignally posted that thread to have fun, where he (or someone else) would post something kind of off-the-wall, and we would respond to it. We <b>still made coherent responses</b>, to a certain degree -substantially less than usual- but still relative and fun.<p>However, that's not all I was speaking of. Some people are spamming normal threads with marginal content, and while I enjoy getting off-topic once and a while, people are getting off-topic at every turn without grace or good-taste (eg//people are now talking about their computer speed on an etiquette thread)<p>What I am asking isn't too much. Before you are hit that submit button, think "Am I saying something worth reading? Is something better left unsaid? I haven't noticed any downfall, except for the Bored thread. Must be me.<p>Well, post count in itself doesn't matter, but for some people it apparently does, and then they start post-whoring to get a higher count.
