favourite non-PS game?

Postby Mister Death » Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:03 pm

Mine is probably Nights Into Dreams. While I love lots of games, this is the only one I'm seriously addicted to and have been playing on and off for several years. It has everything - nice background music, good graphics (for a Saturn), interesting gameplay, a decent plot. i enjoy actually playing it before bed so that it affects my dreams... its also fairly relaxing, so it gets me to sleep. my scores are currently in the 3-350,000, which isnt bad for a faulty controller and dodgy TV picture. i'm eagerly awaiting the release on the Wii scheduled for the end of this year/beginning of next year, although it's gonna cost me a fortune as i dont even have a Wii.

Cannot wait for it on Wii myself. Myself I like playing the Neverwinter Nights games. Also I play Ultima Online.

A toss-up between Panzer Dragoon Saga and Tales of Phantasia.

Kind of tough question, can't single one out...

I've always really liked the two first instalments of the X-COM series (UFO Defence and Terror from the Deep). Lemmings is great (great music also!) and I also like the Myst-series, especially Riven. Mega Man I and II are all time favourites as well, mostly, perhaps, because of the music. A very special mention is due to Lucas Arts' line of great adventure games: The Dig, Monkey Island I&II and (my favourite) Day of the Tentacle!

Right now I'm playing Omikron: The Nomad Soul, which barring the fights seems really promising.

Pong is a great party-game by the way!

I loved that game! :D

As far as my favorite game goes...I can't really pick a favorite since I like quite a few.

Not Langrisser 4? At least that game has more than one ending.

Go, go, Gizarov!

Nice to see another SO2 fan on the Cave.

I have a lot of fond memories about that game, like this one time where I was fighting the berserk synard and everyone was dead except for Rena who was out of MP, if I remember correctly, and I was ill-prepared for the battle anyway so I decided to give up and have her run up do a normal attack for sh*ts & giggles, and my friend said, "I'd laugh if she kills him," and then much to our surprise she actually did. XD

Then one day we made up a pen-and-paper RPG in the style of SO2. It wasn't prefect, and we were always making changes, but we had fun. SO2 was a big thing for us.

SO2 does rock, as do SO1 and 3. I love the Star Ocean skill system and the huge game world with all its planets.
It always made me laugh when I had Chisato in the battle and whenever I won, she yelled '...and that's how the monsters ceased to exist!'

I couldn't name a single game. However, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask would be up there, same with Der Langrisser, Metroid Fusion, Resident Evil 4, Killer 7, Final Fantasy VI, and Fire Emblem. Ugh, I'm sure that I left some games out, but those are the ones that come immediately to mind.
The black queen chants
The funeral march,
The cracked brass bells will ring;
To summon back the fire witch
To the Court of the Crimson King.

Probably Quest for Glory. The entire series, but QFG II and III in particular. Wages of War had quite a few problems that make it critically the poorest of the series, but I loved the breathtaking change of pace from other RPG's. How many times do you get to play in RPG set in Africa in a land that incorperates Egyptian influences with Savanna and Jungle bush tribes?

Actually... now that I think of it, the entire series (except the first game) had rather off-beat settings. Persian, African, Slavic, and Grecian.
