Phantasy Star 2 sucks.

Discuss anything related to the Phantasy Star series

Hehehe, it's fun to see your lack of argumentation.
To me, you running out of arguments so fast is the ultimate proof we can't find real wrong points in PSII.

Thank you for giving us that proof, showing consequently PSII's quasi-perfection as a game ;)

Well, I'm going to devil's advocate and try to find something that could have been much better with PSII.

Lets see... oh!

The speed of the battles goes quite slowly. I know they fixed that in PSIV and using a frame skip on an emulator fixes it, but there you go.

So because I haven't written a lengthy argument in regards to how crap PSII is, it's therefore bad. Well, what if I don't have much to say? If I wanted to go into more detail, I would write some kind of review, but I have neither the time or the inclination to do so. And besides, getting supposedly pwned by a bunch of video gaming nerds is hardly going to keep me up at night in distress.

Ho hum.

It kind of makes me wonder why you decided to state that PSII is crap in the first place, then.

Mister Death wrote:oh come on, its not a depressing game. Xenogears is a depressing game. PS2 is just dark, atmospheric and post-apocalyptic, which is cool.

It is depressing! The theme is dark, yes, but the events that take place also make it depressing.

::spoilers below::

    - Tiem is killed by her father, who commits suicide after the realization of what he had done. The same guy tries to kill Nei 7 months before the game because of what she was.

    - Nei ends up being killed by Neifirst after they battle to the death.

    - With the fall of Motherbrain and destruction of Palma, all civilization and technology collapses, ultimately resulting in much of Algol's population being wiped out.

    - Oh, and everyone dies in the end. :D

Then again, everyone has a different point of view. While some may find it to be dark/sad, others may not. *shrugs*

Care to start by enumerating the things you didn't like about the game? What about the parts you did like; the reasons you played through it twice? I'll get you started:
    PS2 Sucks Because:
  1. The blue grid background during battles is boring, tiring, and doesn't represent the game world.
    PS2 Is Good Because:
  1. Nei.

That way you can get your point across without spending the time or effort crafting pretty pose. Oh and without starting a flame war. Not that I mind flame wars

a lot of good things happen in the game too. Motherbrain is destroyed before she can destroy Algol, Dark Force is banished (for now), Palmans survive and some semblance of a civilisation is rebuilt, the native Motavians and Dezolisians are quite obviously completely unaffected, the Musk Cats escape from the wreckage of their ship and find a nice warm cave on Dezolis. there are even surviving androids, who are now independent from Motherbrain and genuinely working to maintain the control systems of Algol!

Dorrinal.. PS 2 dungeons are easy compared to Wizardry. if you haven't played any of the first 3, then you couldn't comprehend.

Why do you wish to delete moi? XD

I thought PS2 was a great game, tho i gotta agree with the author of the thread. It was funny how they were not able to put a background on the battle field. PS1 on an inferior system was able to put on really beautiful backgrounds and a PS2 on a more powerful system can't? Not to mention PS1 was able to do 3D dungeon effects (simply impossible to do with high frame rates during the early 80s).

It could also be a conscious(sp?) choice.
