Yep Edless, that's all the cutscenes. However, a lot of extra development to the characters and storyline also happens by using the 'conversation' command.
To be honest, I quite enjoyed the remake. The difficulty has indeed been nerfed in some respects. However whilst walking speed is much faster, encounter rates on the world maps have been made higher to make up for it.
Yeah, the new crystal combos are way too powerful. However, at least one of the two crystals needed to cast Thunderstorm (the paralyze attack) usually breaks after one use. One of the crystals alone cost around 7,700 meseta (off the top of my head), so you usually wont have the meseta, until near the end of the game, to use them.
The success of the run command seems to be based on the level of the characters. By the time I was going through the last dungeon, all of my characters were at level 60. If I was three or four levels lower, I wouldn't have had as much luck ;) Enemies that are considered too powerful for your level have their names in red, and it is usually these enemies which can be difficult to run from.
You still need to level grind, particularly when you're on Dezoris. Some of the dragons near the end of the game are also incredibly tough; the Black Dragon can almost wipe a fully-healed party in one hit. In fact, the dragons were much tougher than Dark Falz and Lassic.
Status effects such as poison can kill you very easily; the damage inflicted by poison is based on the damage the initial attack hits you with. It's quite common later on in the game for it to hit you for 50 points per round, so you have to cure status ailments very quickly.
Alis' Fly spell has been changed to Teleport, and now acts like PSIV's Ryuka; you can teleport to any city on the planet, as long as you have visited it. Otherwise, Alis only gets the first tier of Fire and Heal spells, so she is best used as a physical attacker.
I liked the extra characterization. Alis acted like a 15 year-old; a bit naive, fun-loving, and very determined. They also changed it so Nero died when she was a kid, and she didn't leave for her journey until she was older. You could see the bond between Odin and Myau (they're both jokesters, but also have a fighting spirit and a huge sense of pride and loyalty). Noah didn't soften up to the party straight away, and is generally seen sighing at the others or saying nothing after he joins. He slowly opens up to the party throughout the journey.
I also liked it how they made the walls of the Dark Falz dungeon look similar to the Garubek Tower in PSIV! It was also fun how if you picked for Alis not to become Queen, you can actually continue playing, essentially continuing Alis' journey (even though there isn't much else to do).
This is just stuff off the top of my head... if there's anything specific people want to know, just ask :)
