Historia Algolis

Postby Thray_Walsh » Sat May 03, 2008 12:10 pm

This is my History of Algol which I created as part of my WIP fanfic series.

And before anyone possibly chews me out over the Alisa III crashing on Earth's Moon part; yes I do know that it's a theory of Mike Ripplinger's and I just happen to think it's a interesting idea [and in case anybody is wondering, the Dark Force on the Alisa III ties in to the ending of my series which I already have planned even though it's not written down yet]...

So here is "Historia Algolis which I hope you all enjoy! :D
===============================================
When an Esper Loves a Senshi - Historia Algolis

Introduction
----------------
'Historia Algolis' [History of Algol] is a chronological guide to the history of the Algol Star System, which is where the 'Phantasy Star' series of RPG's are set in. This guide is mainly based on the chronological guide found within the official guide to the series called "Phantasy Star Compendium"; a translation of which can be found at http://home.att.net/~RACapowski/PS/comtrans.htm and which was a big aid to me when writing this document.

'Historia Algolis' uses two dating systems - 'BW' and 'AW' with 'BW' standing for 'Before Waizz' as in Waizz Landale; ancestor of Alis Landale, the main heroine of the first Phantasy Star game before Waizz united all of Palma under one ruler and 'AW' which stands for 'After Waizz' and the period after Waizz achieved his goal to unite Palma.

Also included in this chronology are certain elements of continuity from the English language versions of the core series, which in itself is practically different from its Japanese counterpart due to the infamous translation job done on them by Sega of America [For further information, visit 'The Phantasy Star Compendium Translation’ website, the site link for which is the one in the first paragraph.] when they first came out, the most notorious change being the date that the first game was set in from AW 342 to Space Century [or S.C.] 342 instead.

The most important changes in Historia Algolis that's made from the English version to the Japanese version are the dating system from S.C. to BW/AW plus the date that the Earthmen from Phantasy Star II arrived in the Algol Solar System from AW822 to AW339 [a date of my own choosing] so that it can tie-in to what the English language instruction manual for the first Phantasy Star game says abut the dark priests of the religion that corrupts La Shiec coming from another galaxy.

Also added and which tie-in to events in Algolian history are the dates when Alis and Lutz bring techniques to Algol, Alis gets married, Lutz's twin brother Thray [Rune Walsh's previous incarnation] goes to the Moon Kingdom as Algol's ambassador along with the date of the fall of the Moon Kingdom itself.

I sincerely hope that this guide is of help to those reading "When an Esper Loves a Senshi" and at the same time also encourages people to play the original games by whatever means possible [my personal means of choice being in emulated form on a PC].

And now, without further ado, I present 'Historia Algolis'...

Historia Algolis
---------------------
Several Hundred Million Years Ago - Somewhere in an unspecified solar system, a spiritual lifeform split itself into two lesser beings, which eventually began to fight against each other.

2,000,000 Years Ago - The war between the two lifeforms was eventually won by the lifeform known as 'The Great Light' while the opposing lifeform which would become known as 'The Profound Darkness' was sealed away in another dimension by using a seal created in the form of a fixed star, which in millennia to come would be called 'Algol' and four planets - Rykros, Palma, Motavia and Dezoris. A group known as 'Protectors of the Seal' were also created by using the sentient lifeforms, which had been allocated to each planet.

300,000 Years Ago - The 'Protectors of the Seal' on Rykros are wiped out and over time, their counterparts on Rykros' sister planets would forget about their mission to protect the seal on the Profound Darkness and prevent it from being destroyed or weakened.

BW 100 - Palma's feudal period continues.

BW 13 - Waizz Landale who was the supreme ruler of Palma's Baya Malay region raises an army so that he can unite all of the lands on Palma under one ruler.

AW 1 - Waizz Landale achieves his aim by uniting the lands of Palma together and in doing so becomes the founder of the Landale royal dynasty. Meanwhile, the development of Palma as a planet continues.

AW 126 - The first manned spaceship to be sent from Palma lands on the desert world of Motavia with contact soon being made with the native inhabitants.

AW 157 - A manned spaceship is sent to the ice world of Dezoris and as with the first landing on Motavia, contact is made with the planet's native inhabitants.

AW 183 - Due to overpopulation problems on Palma, a plan for emigration to Motavia was initiated. Near Lake Perseus, which was Motavia's only lake, construction work began on the experimental city of Paseo.

AW 264 - Emigration to Motavia begins with the planet becoming a province of Palma while a Government House is built in Paseo which itself becomes Motavia's seat of government.

AW 327 - Palma's current ruler, Aures Landale, suddenly dies and in place of the less-than-one-year-old rightful heir to the throne, Princess Alis, the next-in-line Head Priest and Prime Minister; Reipard La Shiec [whose surname over time would become corrupted into Lassic and Lashiec] became entrusted with political power. However, a lady-in-waiting from King Aures' court decided to hide Princess Alis away with a friend of hers because of her suspicions that King Aures' demise was actually part of a plot set up by La Shiec himself so that he could gain power over Palma.

AW 328 - La Shiec is installed as Palma's provincial king while Alis went to live with Sirus; the Governor of Motavia.

AW 329 - Sirus sends Alis to the home of a trusted retainer's subordinate where she would be raised as a common citizen. It is there that she met a boy named Nero who she soon became attached to, and together they are raised as brother and sister.

AW 338 - Alis' foster parents are killed in an accident.

AW 339 - A spaceship by the name of 'Noah', which carried within it a group of survivors from a future Earth apparently devastated by environmental damage, arrives in the Algol Solar System via a time-space warp hole. The spaceship also carried within it a male version of a creature called 'Dark Force', a female version of which almost devastated Earth in the early 21st Century. It is at this time that the people onboard 'Noah' [and who themselves are referred to as Earthmen] begin their plans to conquer the Algol Solar System and rule over it themselves.

AW 341 - A group of Earthmen under the pretense of being priests of a religion that originated in another galaxy meet up with La Shiec and tell him about the religion that they belong to and which promised immortality to all those who would join. Because the idea of being immortal appealed to him, La Shiec became the first to join the new religion on Palma. Soon, La Shiec himself began to change, thanks in part to a special evil-looking suit of armor created for him by the dark priests and which was also infused with evil magic from Dark Force himself, who by this time had merged with a Dark Force that had come through a weak spot in the seal.

AW 342 - Nero, while investigating La Shiec's change of personality is captured and killed at the hands of La Shiec's secret police. With the aid of Myau, Odin and Lutz, Alis manages to carry out Nero's final wishes by defeating both La Shiec and Dark Force, and in doing so, brings peace to the entire Algol Solar System. Soon afterwards, Alis ascended the throne and became Queen Alis Landale I with her being guided in her duties thanks to advice and help from her comrades and Sirus. As for the Earthmen, they began to plot revenge even if they have to wait centuries to get it so they would have another chance to take over Algol.

AW 344 - Due to the engine of the spaceship that they were travelling on having been sabotaged at the hands of some of La Shiec's surviving loyalists, Alis and Lutz ended up finding themselves in another solar system where they met a native inhabitant by the name of Gardinan von Emardyne and who joins them on their return to Palma. It is also after his return from the solar system where he and Alis met Gardinan that the form of magic known as 'Techniques' were originated along with their use by Lutz.

AW 345 - Queen Alis married Gardinan von Emardyne, who in turn became King Gardinan I.

AW 346 - Lutz's twin brother, Thray who is a Professor of History at Palma University and also doing research into Esper history is appointed Ambassador to the Moon Kingdom, which is ruled by Queen Serenity and is located in the solar system known as Sol. It is there that he meets and falls in love with Amiri Lucada, Princess of the planet Mercury and member of the Sailor Guardians; protectors of Princess Serenity, Queen Serenity's daughter. Princess Amiri in turn soon falls in love with Thray and reveals her feelings to him after an incident in which she is almost raped by one of Prince Endymion's [son of Earth's ruler] Generals and is rescued by Thray himself.

AW 347 - The Moon Kingdom falls at the hands of Queen Beryl; a sorceress from Earth with the aid of her Dark Kingdom and the Four Generals who used to serve Prince Endymion before becoming corrupted by Beryl herself. She reveals to Thray that she works for a creature called 'Dark Force' [which in this case, this particular 'Dark Force' has taken on a female form] as well as Queen Metallia who she also works under. Both Princess Amiri in her role as Sailor Mercury and Thray fall in battle, but before Thray dies, he uses the forbidden technique known as 'Megid' to injure Queen Beryl and defeat the female 'Dark Force' not knowing that his victory would be a temporary one as the female 'Dark Force' would travel to Earth to recover in human form and under various names for the next 1000 years or so before taking on the name of Shogaino Hakai in 20th Century Japan and becoming the President of one of the biggest conglomerates in the world as well as being the secret founder of her own group of warriors; the 'Ryu ga Hagane' [Steel Dragons]. As for Thray himself, he was buried alongside his and Lutz's parents before their remains were moved to Esper Mansion in Dezoris centuries later.

AW 349 - Lutz, while continuing to do research on Dark Force, not only learns the true origins of the Algol Solar System as a gigantic seal, but also learns that every 1000 years or so, due to various fluctuations caused by Dark Force's arrival as well as a weakening in the seal itself which caused another Dark Force to arrive and merge with the one that he and his comrades had defeated, a new Dark Force would make an appearance in Algol. He assembles his fellow Espers together and places himself in cryogenic sleep.

AW 843 - An event called 'The Conjunction' in which Palma, Motavia and Dezoris came into alignment takes place. Because of this, the orbits of Palma and Motavia were switched due to gravitational interference and entire cities were also annihilated. Also, thanks to the Earthmen, the escape shuttle, which was carrying the remaining members of the ruling class, was destroyed and the Landale dynasty supposedly wiped out.

AW 845 - Mother Brain, a super-computer built and secretly controlled by the Earthmen and located at the heart of 'Noah' itself, begins construction of its centrally controlled network starting with Palma while reconstruction work advances at a accelerated pace. It is at this time that Lutz awakens from his cryogenic sleep and is forced to go into hiding with his followers to Dezoris where he builds the Esper Mansion on Alplatin Plateau as Mother Brain had spread false rumors concerning the Espers because she saw them as a threat to the Earthmen's plans.

AW 868 - Palma's reconstruction is completed while control of the planet's public welfare was given over to Mother Brain. An underground resistance movement is created due to this happening.

AW 1274 - The anti-Mother Brain movement is sent off on a spaceship used for exploration outside the Algol Solar System but was destroyed by Mother Brain who made it look like an accident. Under this pretense, she issues an edict forbidding travel between the planets of Algol, which involve the use of spaceships. A young boy named Rolf and who was a descendant of Alis was onboard the spaceship, but was saved thanks to Lutz's Esper power.

AW 1282 - An accident takes place at the Biosystems Lab on Motavia. As a result, massive amounts of Biomonsters were bred as part of the Profound Darkness' rebirth at the hands of the Earthmen.

AW 1284 - Rolf, who is by now an agent for the Government on Motavia, is assigned to investigate the Biosystems Lab incident. Soon, he and his party are marked as being sympathetic to the underground resistance. The resistance discovers that Rolf and his party are being held on the prison satellite known as 'Gaira' with Tyler, commander of the raider warship 'Landale' being dispatched to rescue them. Shortly before that happened, the two leaders of the underground resistance movement, Orakio Sa Riik and Laya Le Cille succeeded in cutting off their spaceship's remote control system from Mother Brain, and before Gaira crashed into Palma which in turn caused the planet's destruction, helped to evacuate as many people as possible from Palma using rescue ships left over from the time of the Conjunction, amongst the survivors being two members of La Shiec's bloodline. After many further trials and tribulations during which Rolf and his comrades met Lutz as well as obtain the legendary 'Nei' weapons which would aid them in their final battles, the party went to 'Noah' itself where they not only defeated the 'Dark Force' that had come through the seal's weakest point and hid itself on the spaceship, but also Mother Brain and several hundred Earthmen. As to the fate of those onboard 'Noah', that is unknown...

As for the rescue ships which left Palma, they started a journey to look for a new world to settle down on and be free of Mother Brain's influence, but most of the ships with the exception of three - the Alisa III, the Neo Palm and a ship which would crash onto Motavia around 1000 years later; it's inhabitants long since deceased would be destroyed by the 'Dark Force' that had been located on 'Noah' and which had previously come through the seal's weakest point before meeting up with the Earthmen and was moving from ship to ship before returning to 'Noah' itself where it would be defeated by Rolf's party, after which it would go to the Alisa III and be defeated in battle by Orakio and Laya in a palace located on the world of Landen and later be sealed away using Orakio's black sword before the palace itself was sunk deep in Landen's main ocean by Laya and Orakio themselves, their fate like that of those onboard 'Noah' being unknown.

AW 1285 - The survivors of the underground resistance movement get Zelan and Kuran which were the focal points of Mother Brain's resistance network broadcasts back into operation. The bare minimum that was necessary for the system to prevent Motavia's transformation back into a desert is begun. Tyler later seals away the 'Landale' on Dezoris and becomes the founder and chief of a village near its' location which in later generations would come to bear his name.

AW 1299 - Lutz dies. But before he died, he transferred his will and memories into a crystal orb located within a temple in the Esper Mansion's Inner Sanctum, before said will and memories were later on transferred to a Esper male by the name of Latis Howard who was chosen by Lutz himself and who became the 'Second Lutz' [or in this case, the first person to carry Lutz's memories within them while Rune Walsh would become the 'Fifth Lutz' almost 1000 years later.]

After that, life continued in Algol as best it could until the arrival of its' greatest threat yet in AW 2284...

NOTE: In 'WAELAS', I decided to have the Dark Forces that appear in Phantasy Star I-III all be one and the same using the following method for a sense of continuity:

1) The Dark Force that came through the seal’s weakest point in AW 1284 meets up with the Earthmen that are onboard 'Noah' and hides itself there awaiting Rolf and his party to ambush them until he gets defeated by said party.

2) The same Dark Force after being defeated starts to attack the rescue ships which had left Palma before its destruction and later heads for the Alisa III where it's defeated in battle by Orakio and Laya and sealed away in the kingdom of Landen.

3) Centuries later, onboard Alisa III, a descendant of Orakio by the name of Aron along with his party end up facing off against the Dark Force located in Landen and manage to defeat it only temporarily, which in turn allows it to go into hiding in the ship itself.

4) The Alisa III ends up going through a black hole where it ends up not only in our time period, but also near Earth itself where it crashes on the dark side of the Moon itself with the loss of all onboard.

5) Before the period which would become known as 'The Great Freeze' began on Earth, a group of people that had been loyal to the Dark Force known as Shogaino Hakai travel to the Moon having full knowledge of the Alisa III being located on the Moon and start work on building a spaceship from various parts of the Alisa III itself including its engines in which the 'Dark Force' previously defeated by the heroes from Algol had hidden itself and which the people from Earth would name, some would say either a ironic twist or a perverted twist – 'Noah', Shogaino Hakai having kept the fact that the spaceship was there, a secret thanks in part to having certain people in various positions of power being some of her followers.

6) 'Noah' travels through a time-space warp hole to the Algol Solar System where they begin their plans to take over said solar system while the 'Dark Force' onboard the spaceship waits to merge with its counterpart due to come through the seal at its' weakest point.

In other words, can we say 'time loop'?

EDIT: 6th May 2008 - Fixed spelling mistake in AW 327 entry where I spelt "Lashiec" as "La Shiec" when I had already done it the first time.

So Mono.. How do you explain then how the Earthmen brought a Dark Force from EARTH To Algo?

I'd love to hear that explanation. Mmm.. Then again the CC group has a tendancy to ignore things they can't explain.

I believe that explanation is derived from two of the possible 4 endings in Phantasy Star 3: Generations of Doom wherein the Alyssa III lands on "the third planet from the sun".

It's pretty easy to figure out what they were inferring. Having gone thru the black hole (a complete mystery to some... or a space/time pimple... depending on who you ask) that was thought to be able to transport things back and forth in time. We may know better now, but that was the idea they had back in the late 80's.

That'd clear that little mystery right up.

Before PSIII, there was no explanation. And since PSIII has four endings, and not one, any explanation is as valid as the other.
Then again the CC group has a tendancy to ignore things they can't explain.

No trolling, please.
Abominae wrote:Alyssa III

I still don't get what's so hard about the spelling of the ship's name. It's Alisa III. Named after the heroine of PSI. Her full Japanese name. It's not hard.

Naflign's translation of the original japanese Ps 2.

Along with "Hundreds of Thousands" of earthmen and other nuances.

Benoit.. Quite. I'll troll all I want. Until you tell the other trollers to stop, I won't. Don't like it? Delete the posts. I'd love to see you do that.

you keep mentioning a sailor lol, are you mixing sailor moons story with Phantasy Star?
Anyhow, this kind of clashes with the story i have im working on for my game, the basis of my game is simple.

After part 4, Algos climates become unabrable for many and so they set out to find a new home, that home end up being earth, and many years have past and earths humans have perished simply because of war and polution, their is a dark force but i wont say where he is from, but i will say he is not the main baddy.
Their is no polution when the palmans and desorians and motavians arive simply because its been so many years and earth has managed to regain itself.

It pretty much ignores PS3 and focuses on 1 2 and 4s storylines for a story.

It has been many years later, way after the ship lands on the moon.
Thats pretty much all i can say without giving the story away, but i will say this, it will clash with these historys and what not people keep putting out.

Hmm, i may have to add an extra place to go to though, it would be a good idea to actualy go to this ship on the moon.

Your troll was downright flamebait. No, I'm not going to delete posts to feed your discontent.

You know what your behaviour makes me think of? A little kid. "But he also did it!" Doesn't make it right. You're stooping down to their level, too. You, majoring in psychology, should know this better than me.

Well Benoit, you can't seem to stand up to the other troller who you consider a "dear friend" so why should I cease?

Please.. I'm the only person who used flamebait that you've ever called on it.

Stop it or do it equally. That would be too hard for you anyways.

In the world, two wrongs make a right. Deal with it.

Mm.. now who is flaming and mocking? Not the great Benoit! Oh never!

Now I figured out why certain people will only be aquaintances.

Wow, this is messed up.
A topic on Algo's history turns into argument over trolling and flaming?
How?
This is not the place people, argue about it in IM, please?

I hate juming in the middle of stuff like this, but i think it's silly.

Can we please just get along?

I agree with mikepjr, can we please stop with the trolling and get back on track with a reasonable discussion on "Historia Algolis" if we can... :D

mikepjr; on another note, you're not psychic are you by any chance as I was planning on doing the exact same thing where the Protectors along with the Senshi plus my superhero team; the Avatar Knights Zegara visit the crashed Alisa III on the Moon to see if they can try and destroy the Dark Force on it at the end of the story...

Um, what Senshi?
You sound like you mixed up Phantasy Star with Sailor Moon. WTF?
No, my fan game takes place many years after PS4, a lot of it takes place on earth, and some of it takes place in algo.

And no to all that about the dark force on Alisa 3.

Have you looked at my fan game thread at all?

Phantasy Star: Earth's Past
Without giving a lot away, at one point i was thinking of maybe having to get the weapons they used in PS3 to help them in a fight on earth, maybe have a need for the sword of orakio.. i hope i spelled that right.

I was saying my fan games story may clash with these storys people make up about the time line, and how the hell do sailor scouts come into Phantasy Star History?

Never mind, i miss read your topic, you perpously mixed sailor moon with phantasy star.... not sure why i bothered making my first responce to this thread.
