How about Storm Gear? ;)
Fire Staff casts Foi, while Storm Gear casts GiZan to all enemies (like GiGra). You find first Storm Gear from Blue Dam.

Yes. And knowing this you can actually make Shir much more useful. Place her at the front of party and equip her with two shields. I remember Truth Sleeves and Nei Shield are the best shields she can equip. Make her use Storm Gear or Snow Crown in battle.
The real advantage comes when using Snow Crown: Shir is fast.

I just leave Rudo, Rolf, & Anna on attack while Amy uses the Fire Staff (yes, you make a good point, but I have to play thru the game again to make use of that information... Which I may do soon) for about 3 turns then I have everyone use their Gires items until they're all full health, then repeat.

It takes all the strategy out of the fight and you're basically there babysitting. Dull, but effective and guaranteed to work.

I think GiRes items alone makes that already. ;)

Hugh is useful... but not during the bio-monster problem on Dezolis. He can be very useful on Dezolis -- his Vol and SaVol spells work on almost all Dezolis enemies, aside from robots there. Though it is true he isn't of much use during Dark Force and Mother Brain.

Kain is useful from opening the dams and onward. Period. I don't need to explain the dams, but on Dezolis, his spells can work against a lot of enemies there. Not just robots, also on most enemies you meet in the Nei item dungeons. He also works very well against Dark Force and Mother Brain, as his techniques work against them too.

Anna is useful depening on the enemy group. When they're enemies with no amazing defence -- she works very well against them, and you can find those enemies anywhere, but when it comes to heavily armoured enemies (especially larger robots), don't bother with her. Her weapons won't break through enemy defences like guns do.

The problem I had with Kain was his leveling IIRC.

u guys forgotten about something. There's an enemy that can cast poison in the final dungeon. If you are poisoned and without amy or antidotes. It's a loooooooooooooooooooooong trip back to the nearest hospital. Oh....and a loooooooooooooooooong trip back to the dungeon!

I actually rented teh game long before I bought a copy.

On that game it had a save at the end with Rolf - Rudo - Anna - Kain

They were loaded with trimate and all worked well together. This has been the party Ive always stuck with.

Amy is so fragile that she dies a lot and spends a lot of time healing herself. I'm not a fan.

Hugh is pretty useless. He has good techniques but when they run dry he is a weak fighter and pretty much dead weight.

Shir is actually quite good. She has great techniques and isnt god awful in combat. Its just her stealing tends to leave you in trouble on Dezo.
