Postby Nameless » Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:32 pm

Has anyone here stayed up all night playing one of the classic phantasy star games? . I tried with Phantasy Star 2 , IV , and III. but i did not get anywhere in III. I got to Uzo in 2 , and Air Castle in IV. 8)

I have. For every PS game, either classic or contemporary.

On my part it would be impossible, since I have to go to bed until the 2am...

But, do you believe anyone could actually finish any of those games in one night?

are you kidding? ps1 takes at least 48 hours knowing everything due to the grinding involved. ps2 is much harder, 3 is a bit longer but easier and 4, while the easiest, is the longest in terms of events. pso is grinding at its best and each psu is a mix between grinding and story.

finishing any of them in just one night is impossible unless you are in either of the poles, since you'd have a six months long night.

Someone define how many hours one night would be, and I'll try to finish PSIII and PSIV in such a time slot.

I havn't been able to pull all-nighters for ANY game in a while. However, Last night I played PS3 until I fell asleep about midnight. Just got Wren, and was trying to fight my way to the weather control tower's center, when i kept running out of healing. GRRRRR.

Someone on Speed Demon Archives did the original Phantasy Star in 5 hours and 40 minutes, thats doable in one night.

This was done on the GBA Phantasy Star Collection.
I'd love to try it, but I don't have the time.

I'm skeptical. I want to see the video or I'll never believe it.

Click the time at the top, they have videos.

These things are rarely fun to watch, though. Just a bunch of running and skipping all the text.

Actually, I find it overly simplistic and, frankly, a bit beneath me.

As for gameplay videos? I prefer ones that show off unusual glitches or features, or where the player provides well done commentary. I can enjoy watching pure displays of skill as well, but the point of a speedrun isn't to do flashy and impressive stuff, but to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. In a turnbased RPG, that doesn't tend to be very amusing.

PeaGuy, if you must spew venom, can you please keep it in the thread where it could at least appear warranted? We don't need board-wide drama.
