Don't do it! It would make me look even more inferior to you. You always go for the harder platinums, like gta

What drives man to commit a brutal murder?
I'm still in a slight shock... I once wanted to visit Russia. I don't know if I want anymore...

GTA4 was hell, but I heard games like Killzone 2 are even worse.

And that's not all...

One old man in wheelchair, named Ior Bock, who practiced/was a member of one pagan religion, has been stabbed to death. What I knew is that he was a bit odd person but very positive person. He made it to news few times here in Finland.
What makes this death very ironic and tragic is the reason why he was in wheelchair - someone already tried to kill him back in -99... by stabbing him.
The person(s) who finally killed him was/were his caretaker(s).

Just think about it. You were in a wheelchair because someone stabbed you. Then about ten years later you are stabbed by your own caretaker. The one you must trust to help you over your daily routines... I just cannot believe this...

WING-0, you indeed were right - Not only in Russia.

I read that in a village down south from my city, a catholic priest sexually abused several young men and children during eight years. He kept their mouths shut with threats of going to hell and stuff. The incident leaked out, when one of the older boys spoke about it to his parents. Needless to say, none of them were very amused by the revelation.

They rounded up the parents of the affected youths and came to an agreement. They went for the priest, caught him, beat the crap out of him and got a confession, first in front of the boys, then in front of the rest of the people.

Moments later, they... removed his genitalia. The whole thing is a mess locally. The police tried to intervene, but a weird thing happened. When they started asking for who was responsible, most of the men and women replied unanimously "We all did it. What of it?"

This is a moment in which I am both glad and slightly scared. Not scared of civilians procuring justice by their own hands, but by the failure of the legal system. One of the reasons for their behavior is said to be that no one believes in it anymore. Human rights are flipped to protect guilty persons, while those of the real victims are trampled underfoot and left in the dark when the perpetrator is powerful, influential or backed by a large organization.

Incidents like this are true in every instance regarding the indigenous populations, one of which is that village.

If you ask me what I think of the whole incident, all I can say is "Good riddance. At least he won't do it again, and that's for sure."

Ah, the modern justice system (or lack thereof). This past Sunday my family discussed how imperfect the American justice system is (can't speak for Mexico other than in an "I saw on TV" way, that the judicial/law enforcement side of things south of the border is in quite a terrible state). The rich and the well-known (usually the two groups overlap) get away with so much more than the rest of us. It's really frustrating, and I have too little knowledge in social sciences to have any great solutions.

One thing about the particular situation in that village is that whether or not the legal system is screwed up, the priest was able to keep his filthy actions secret for so long because of what I'm guessing are taboo subjects among parents and children in that area. This is a strong reminder for me as a parent that, no matter how squicky it might feel for me to talk to my children about things adults (and other children) have NO RIGHT to do to them, I need to sit down and have that discussion. It could make all the difference in my children's safety, and it's too important to keep putting off.

Anyway, my great entry for the night is that I completely forgot about my kids' parent/teacher conferences today, which means no school, so I came home after only putting in two hours of work tonight. My round-trip commute is three hours, so... yeah. Pretty crappy. Three hours of driving for two hours of work. Plus I have to try to sleep tonight so I can watch my kids all day. Mid-week sleep schedule changes are murder for me. My husband and I totally FAIL for forgetting about these conferences.

I don't get it... Your kids can't go to school because you missed the conferences?

And regarding failing as a parent, while what happened might be a major annoyance, it's really a minor setback in the long run. I'm speaking here as a former elementary school teacher.

Making sure kids can discern between good and bad, socially acceptable and socially unacceptable as well as observing generosity and kindness towards other people is way more important.

One of the kids I taught was a complete mass of violence towards weaker kids. I talked with his father, and the asshole just replied "So what? Bullying builds character"

I really felt like punching his nose just to see if it'd break.

THAT is what I think is a bad parent.

Yes, the conferences run all day long, during school hours, so the teachers will be occupied with the meetings and won't have time for teaching, too.

And since I have the kids home today, we will talk about inappropriate touching and more, since it's fresh in my mind and I have all day to do so.

And the old and lame argument that bullying builds character makes me seethe with anger.

I understand the parents of that Mexican village who beat up the priest and got him to confess, but I'm torn on if it was really necessary to cut his genitals off. It seems a step too far, but on the other hand it's quite an appropriate punishment for 8 years of sexual abuse.

The justice system these days tends to prevent justice from happening instead of encouraging it. It's degenerated into procedures. "Oh, the procedure wasn't followed correctly? Well then, I guess we'll have to free the suspect/do everything all over again."

Another example is a modern phenomenon known as "botnets". They're networks of computers infected with malicious software that allows a person with bad intentions to control them remotely. They're usually used to send tons of spam and to attack other computers.

While these people can infect computers at will, researchers and law enforcers can't do anything legally. Taking control away would require breaking into a victim's computer in some way. Neutralising the network could have negative effects on the victim's computers, and the good guys would be to blame.

Trust me, if he tried that shit on my niece and nephew, his genitals would be the least of his worries.

Mob justice for the win.
