The place to chat round the fire, share a tale, and just about anything else you'd like to do

Actually, the castration did strike me as odd...

Normally, when angry mobs pull stunts like this, it ends with the mob killing the person in question, so something like this seems a little tame to what I'm used to hearing.

And yes, the judicial system is in such a bad shape that the rich and powerful get away with anything they do, while the common people have to live in fear because they aren't really taken care of.

Just an example...

Last year, there was a fire in a daycare. I don't remember how many children were inside when it burned, but I do remember the final body count. 49 children dead with burns, poisoned by noxious gases from the combustion, the heat and all of that. The surviving children show now damage ranging from trauma to actual brain damage because of those same gases.

The owners of the daycare were ALL let go under the pretense that it was an accident. They were either relatives to high ranking government officials or actual government officials.

Also, the permits for setting up said daycare in that place, a warehouse with no security measures installed, were given to them by government officials.

Justice be damned.

I got to see the car of one of the grieving parents. On his back glass (don't know the exact term for it, you know, the one you see towards the back), it was written "I left my son smiling at ABC. Later, I picked him up dead at the morgue".

But hey... It's just another tragedy at my city... Or so the government and the media toot the horn.

A completely unexpected good thing happened...

Postby Wing-0 » Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:50 am

I was walking back home and I came upon a garage sale. Among what was on sale, were mostly useless things like lighters, Cuban cigars, used TVs, but then I noticed a known silhouette. Super Nintendo cartridges. I inspected what was on sale, mostly bad games, but the second from the last in the box was none other than Super Metroid.

SUPER METROID!!!

That game is a very rare find right now, and was one of the games that was stolen from me more than ten years ago when a thief broke into the house.

I've been keeping my eyes open for this game every time I go to the black market every month.

Now, I finally have it back in physical form. When I had it, I never finished it, but years later I finally did when I emulated it, and loved it. I have Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission, and while both of them are tons of fun, they didn't have that oppressive atmosphere and sense of loneliness in a hostile world, where I had to figure where to take Samus for her next mission, based on what places I can visit and which I can't.

Super Metroid is one of the games I have more fond memories of.

Zebes, here I come!

Very minor complaint, but is there some sort of "I just sat down to eat" radar/detector that people have? I get my food all situated (I eat while I'm working since I don't get a "lunch" break), and all of a sudden everyone has work processing issues.

Employee: *instant message* Hey, Amy, how does the blah blah blah work when you enter it in the database?
Me: *thorough, detailed explanation in clear English*
Employee: Um, okay. I don't know if I'm doing this right, so I'm coming over to your desk.
Me: *looks down at pasta* Guess I'll be reheating you later... *sigh*

I had that happen to me several times...

My final response to that was:

Me: "MUNCH, MUNCH, MUNCH"

Coworker: "So, like I was saying, I think we should speak with this kid's parents... Would you stop eating and listen?"

Me: "I don't masticate with my ears. Keep talking."

Note to self: The word masticate is awesome. Must find a way to work it into conversation today.

It's awesome when you want to show someone that they're interfering with your feeding time.

Believe me, it works.

In subsequent times, whenever someone wanted to interrupt me, I started masticating with an open mouth and an angry gaze.

It worked! Of course, it also showed how infantile my humor can be... =P

Immaturity works? Awesome! I'll give it a try. ;)

And while I'm here, for the love of cheesedoodles, why does my boss keep renaming my folder in the S: drive?! It takes like five minutes to navigate to that damn folder in the directory. I don't create shortcuts because I love decorating my desktop, people!

I'm still laughing. I reheated some chicken in the microwave oven, but tasted it and didn't like it. I went for some condiments to spice things up, but was grumbling over how bad the taste was. "This chicken tastes like ass" I said.

Then my dad frowned and said: "Will you stop talking like that?"

And Tanith: You can show people you don't want to be disturbed when eating with class too.

Here's an example:

Classmate: "Hey, can you come and tell me which book I should take?"

Me: "Sure. Bring one of each of the options you have"

Classmate: "They're six books! They're heavy!"

Me: *reclining on the cafeteria's seat, sipping tea and crossing my legs* "Of course they are heavy. But I can assure you that carrying me over there would be heavier."

Classmate: "You're mean!"

Me: "Only with you, fair maiden."

Oh, crap, OH, GODDAMN CRAP, I can't stop laughing at that video...

I love Bioware...

Edit: Since most of you don't give much of a damn about the crapbox 360, and most likely won't play this game and in turn won't mind the spoilers that spoil nothing, here are two more videos of comedy.
