Hello there. I'm an american. The first Phantasy Star game I played was Phantasy Star III, which was at a store in the early 90's (I think it was Sears) on one of those machines that let you pick from multiple Genesis cartridges to play (I don't know what the machine was called). I really got annoyed at not being able to figure out how to get out of the menu that pops up when you press C (It was only last year that I figured out all you had to do was press the B button. Seriously!) In 1997, my family was on vacation at some relatives' house, and they had the Sega Channel. The second Phantasy Star game I tried was II, and the third was IV (that was also the ONLY time I played PSIV), and I did not recognize the name Phantasy Star at first, but another time I visitied, they had PSIII, and I played it, and it all came back to me. During that time, like in the early 90's, I could not figure out how to get out of that menu and didn't know that you just had to press B. I didn't play the original Phantasy Star until a year later, when I discovered the magical blessing that was emulation. The first Phantasy Star game I OWNED was Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA. Ironically, I figured out how to get out of that menu in PSIII on this version of the game. PSII is my favorite of the series, and Phantasy Star III is my second favorite. I haven't played Phantasy Star Online since I bought the Gamecube version back in 2003, and the last time I played it was a few months after I bought it (I played it more than once for the record). I don't even know if the single player mode in PSO has an ending. I never got too far in most Phantasy Star games though. The farthest I've gotten was in Phantasy Star III when I beat Rhys' generation, and this was only today, because of me revisiting PSIII recently. And I don't like how Rhys has a mustache in the second generation. Does he become a porn star or something? XD Sorry, I couldn't help myself. But Rhys from the first Generation of the game (WITHOUT the mustache) is one of my favorite Phantasy Star characters, along with Rolf, who's my #1 favorite character I think. PSII is my favorite because of the characters, the environment and the music. This revisiting of PSIII recently is making me want to get the original Genesis cartridge of it wherever I can, and also buy PSII and III on the Wii Virtual Console, and get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3. For the record, I don't have a Sega Master System (though I do plan on buying one in the future), I have a Power Base Converter, but I don't know if it will work with the model 2 Genesis (I have a model 1 unit also, but stopped using it ever since I got the model 2 unit with the model 2 Sega CD).
