Those references are just that. References. Something for the old fans to feel some nostalgia.

*sigh* Yes, I know, but I keep on telling myself that PSO <b>has</b> to have some relevance to Algol...sadly enough, it doesn't.<p>I want to buy Ep.3, but I don't want it to make me stop playing Ep.1 and Ep.2, especially when they both have so much replay value.

Since the Hunter's License works for both games, you'll still play Episode I & II plenty.

It wasn't a theory. It's a reference Sonic Team put there, that doesn't have anything to do with the actual story of the game.
