chrono trigger has about 12 endings that arent the official ending.

but that doesnt really matter... because phantasy star 2 has only the one and its the official one.
[Edit by Alis in Wonderland on [TIME]1115430522[/TIME]]

Here's where your completely and utterly wrong. The thought of rape is nearly as dispicable as the act. The fact that someone would get enjoyment out of a women getting brutalized, raped and then killed as rape often entails, just sickens me. Taking that which does not belong to you is not right and should not be advocated, especially with something as intimate as sex. You make a comparison with violence? That's not apt at all. Violence can be justified, for example, in PSII... Rolf and Co. wouldn't have done a thing if they were pascifists. Like I said, violence can be justified, but just try finding a situation where rape can be justified. If you enjoy rape games, then chances are you're sick in the head.
You're absolutely right: rape is indeed a despicable act, and I'm reasonably certain that everyone who frequents this message board agrees. However, it's important to remember when playing computer games containing scenes that depict acts of rape, murder, assault or whatever, that you are not actually witnessing rape or murder or assault (or whatever); you're simply witnessing lines of code in execution and viewing illustrations that are highly-figurative of humans raping/murdering/assaulting other humans. Nothing more. Nobody's getting hurt, nobody's getting killed, nothing. These are fictional characters acting on other fictional characters in a fictional setting. And I don't need to remind you that a fictional character is a person who doesn't exist, who has never existed and will never exist. So fantasizing about bringing harm to such a fictional character is, in fact, even less harmful than fantasizing about doing such things to an inanimate object. I should also mention that the possibility of players or viewers of such material being influenced by it in any way is also no reason to look down on the material itself, as the producers cannot control the thoughts or actions of the consumer. Consumers should bear in mind the dangerous repercussions that repeating in real life the acts being depicted will have on both the victim as well as the consumer himself/herself, and make the right choice. That's a given.
[Edit by Mizehrith on [TIME]1115454100[/TIME]]

However, if Khyron is saying that's he'll vouch for your claims, then I will believe them.

Thank you. Now I can rest in peace. This issue has really been bothering me. Think of that what you want.
As for the rape aspect, Mizehrith explained it well.
I'm now dropping the subject.

Hmm... speaking of droping the subject... how in the hell did we go from people arguing over Nei being revived... to someone like rape?
!@#$ :?

Well, in the spirit of dropping the topic, I won't continue, but I would just like to mention that the consumer doesn't always tend to be the most intelligent or is notorious for not using common sense... see, the kid who stabbed somebody because Manhunt supposedly told him to.

Ultimately, on the topic of "canonical" endings, when a game offers multiple endings, only later entries in the series can determine which is "canonical" for the overall story and which was an alternate path.
For example, Koudelka had two endings--one in which all three PCs live and one in which one dies. Shadow Hearts followed the latter, ergo it was the canonical ending. Shadow Hearts, in turn, had two endings, one in which you could save Alice and one in which you didn't. Shadow Hearts: Covenant followed the one in which you didn't (indeed, it was a major part of SHC's plot).
PSIII had four separate endings. PSIV revealed nothing about which one was or was not "real"--all four are therefore still possible.
PSG2 has two possible endings, apparently (not that I've played it). We don't know which one is canonical yet because the next edition of Phantasy Star Generations hasn't yet been released. The PSIV remake may or may not settle the point; it probably won't (seriously, what part of PSIV is determined by whether Nei does or doesn't get resurrected?).
That being said, I believe that the "Nei-dies-forever" ending is more likely to be the canonical one, because it follows the story of the original PSII, because it requires more arcane gameplay crap to get her back (that's the Occam's Razor of videogame endings; the one that requires the most weird crap to get to is usually not the real one...though note Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow as an exception!), and because the story works better with her dying. Still, it remains as a slim possibility that Nei coming back is the reality that will be picked as canon by the PSGenerations developers.

I would just like to mention that the consumer doesn't always tend to be the most intelligent or is notorious for not using common sense...

Very true. However, in those cases, it's the consumer having certain psychological issues. The product itself is not to blame, or we would have tons of teenagers who bought Manhunt killing people.
