At the risk of sounding a little too politically charged here, I can see many lessons from Phantasy Star 2 when it comes to politics not just in America, but the world.
How many places in the world have disarmed populations ?
How many people arent employed, and how many choose not to work and have the government take care of them ? Reminds me of the people in PS2 who said, "I don't have to work because Mother Brain will take care of me". Replace Mother Brain with The Government.
Mother Brain also took advantage of Rolf and co.'s actions to clamp down on the whole population of Mota. Unless, you think Mother Brain really dispatched all those robot guards and imposed a curfew just to stop Rolf.
The whole population of Mota couldn't even fight back if they wanted to, because the weapons (and ammo) were so insanely expensive, and there was probably a lot of red tape.
There were so many people who wanted Mother Brain to have even more control of them. They just couldn't fathom that there could be a motive behind mother brain, or that it was possible for their freedoms to be taken away from them. They didn't think that Tyranny could ever come back. That is, until there was a robot guard every where and they werent allowed to leave the city or go our at night.
The things in the USA are not quite that bad... yet. But anyone with a good sense of discernment can see that this is the road we're heading down.
