Shell, I know it's hard when you already have 4 years with this person...
Yes, being optimistic and looking at the bright picture, *playing "Happy-Happy Joy-Joy in the background* you could use the ultimatum that if he loves you, he'll quit... and being even more optimistic he'd comply for good...
*stops music*
Ok, done with the Care Bears. The facts....
He who tries something once tries it twice...this is the THIRD time he does this to himself, and to you. Might as well do it a fourth, or fifth. HE...HAS...AN ADDICTION PROBLEM.
Yes, marijuana is not the most terrible drug ever, but it's a start, how long before he tries something stronger? You already know his friends, you already know he falls easily. You have already tried to knock sense into him two times, chances are you won't be much sucessful either on the third. How long until his "buddies" introduce him to some actually dangerous people? What if this happens when you two are already married with kids? Do you want to have to hide your kids the problems he'd get you all into?. HIS BUDDIES... ARE... A BAD INFLUENCE
Sadly, or fortunately, I can't really say I understand how you feel as, God be blessed, I haven't had that kind of problems. And so...
* I won't tell you to dump him as not only it's easier said than done, especially with someone you have shared a respectable amount of the best years of your life, but because I'm sure that, deep inside that moronic, pothead of his, he still loves you, and perhaps he still deserves a last chance if this time he really tries.
* I won't tell you to try to talk some sense into him again, because just talking won't be much help at this point. If this is the third time already he might as well have a REAL problem, the kind that requires of proffesional help.
* I won't tell you to use the "if you love me, and yourself, you'll quit on that", as in the state he is now, such would only get him on the "why oh why can't she understand my POV" deffensive and make him close himself from you, cutting your chances to help him.
* And certainly I won't tell you to leave him to his pot and trust his "friends" not to try and screw him over... being a Murphy's Lawyer myself, I know better than to stay around something that MAY harm me, because if it CAN harm me, it WILL.
all I ask from you is to analyse it all carefully, and ask yourself whether you want THAT man to be the one who will father your children. If he is, then get the big guns and proffesional help while there's still hope for him, and for you two... for as I see him, professional help is the only way out now.

[Edit by ROMeo on [TIME]1111718450[/TIME]]
