Anime bubbly girl? Must be one of those people who think that just because a character gets happy and excited ever so often they're bubbly!
Gah.. That is stereotyping.. LOL
One could call me Bubby, But then they would die :D
Worst case scenario is that the characters are drawn like those old GAMEPRO illustrations that you could find throughout the magazine. Man, they hired terrible artists..
Probable scenario is that the characters are modernized versions of they're original selves, but with more attitude and up-to-date hairstyles. From what I saw with the Ep 1 artwork, we really have nothing to worry about.
I wonder about the person doing the backgrounds though.. I wouldnt mind it if the Phantasy star 2 port had houses that the actual characters could fit in to. What was with the original and those doghouses that it seems everyone resided in?

[Edit by Cherok on [TIME]1087516309[/TIME]]

Here's a big question:
Do you think the PS2 remake will have backgrounds for the battle sequences (rather than the grid)? Do you think it should?

I think it should when I first Played PS2 (this when I was young btw) I thought when you ran into monsters they were like in a video game world What I mean is when you would get a random encounter Rofl and Party would get warped into a Little World of there own to fight in XD so yeah it should have backgrounds.

I personally would be fine with added backgrounds. When I originally played the game back in the day I figured they did it to save space, so that shouldn't be an issue. However, there are certainly "purists" out there that may want to keep the grid. I don't know, in a way the grid was such a PS2 signature, you know? I guess I'd be fine either way:
Backgrounds for eye candy.
The grid for nostalgia.

At what point in the game does she display this type of behavior? I must have missed it.

I haven't actually played the game, but I've been told it many times. And notice that I used "supposedly".
I say that they should make a background on the grid. Keep the grid lines and everything, but put nice backgrounds behind the enemies or something to that effect. I doubt this will happen, though.

It's in the speech pattern she uses. I wouldn't call it "bubbly", but I would call it light-hearted and "teenie". But it's not just Alis, Tyrone (Odin) has been reduced to a semi-comedic muscle head. The whole grave, determined aspect of the game isn't there. I'm not saying the lines are way too overdone, but the original story was grim (there was no joy or comedy or positive emotion in the lines being said....English or Japanese). The remake has a lot of humour added and makes light of a lot of the character encounters. Alis doesn't show any determination in her quest and is surprisingly cheerful very early on in the game. Some may not mind it, but considering the overall feel of the PS series, I personally, don't think it fits.
And yes, I have played the game and yes, I do speak Japanese.

well Alis looks really good in-game (not the poster art).
Odin got that cow lick. but maybe they did that cause Rudo has a similiar hairstyle.

I like the grid. It further accentuates the sci-fi/high-technology aspect of the game. But they should get rid of all the red flashing, though (why didn't anyone remember that?).

An exact quote from the game? Do you know how long it's been since I played that game? My only save is at the end (and I am NOT playing that game over again anytime soon). If you want to learn japanese (or read), then play a japanese RPG with voices. That way, if there's a word you don't know, you can hear it being said and figure it out from there. (also helps with mood and tone)
