Phantasy Star Generation 1 Walkthrough - Part 8: Dezoris

Passageway to Skure

This is just a passageway, there's no monsters. You just gotta go straight to the other side, where you'll reach the Skure town. But first, go to the secret passageway to find 20000 Meseta in the treasure chest! :D

Skure

Weapon/Armor Shop

Item Meseta
Marble Tusk 6250
Gatling Gun 22600
Diamond Armor 22300
Animal Glove 6700

Item Shop

Item Meseta
Ruoginin 150
Trimate 300
Sol Atomizer 250
Searchlight 80
Escaper 25
Atlas 150
Dezorian Ring 6000

At the weapon shop, buy the Diamond Armor for Odin and the Animal Glove for Myau too. The Marble Tusk for Myau, although it's strong, doesn't allow you to attack twice, like the Iron Claw we have now (if Myau hitted for two times the damage would be bigger, but he doesn't always hit), so it's up to you. I preferred to buy it. There's also a Gatling Gun for Odin, but it's not even close to surpassing the weapon we just got from Medusa, but on the other hand it allows you to hit all the enemies at once, and here in Dezoris the enemies always come in big groups, so it's up to you. I preferred to stay with the Laconian Axe anyway. Go also in the Item Shop and buy the Dezorian Ring, which you'll need to talk to the dezorians soon. It's indispensable for you to buy it. If you have followed all my suggestions by far, you'll probably be rich by now and won't have any problems with money to buy any of those items. There's nothing more to do here. Enter the tunnel and leave the town or use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go to the entrance (スクレ入り口). Do you accept some advice? I know that's already bugging you a lot, but if possible, level everyone up to level 45. I know it's boring to level up, but Dezoris is a very complicated and boring planet. The enemies are strong, they appear in big groups and it's hard to run away. I really recommend you to do that, especially because we'll have some challenges from now on that won't be easy and it will be good if we can do them with ease. I've already seen lots of people complaining that they went through a hard time on Dezoris and that was because they were at level 30 or 35. I still don't think level 40 is good enough. If you're already at level 41, Lutz will have a magic spell called Rebirth (リーバス). I don't know at which level he learns that, and I was even intending to check it to include in his list, but I haven't noticed at which level it was... I know that now, on level 41 (which is the level I'm at right now), he already has. With that technique you can revive anyone who's unable to fight, unless it's Lutz himself. It's very useful. If you're at level 40 or above, training around Skure won't be that hard anymore (especially now with the better weapons) and it won't take too much time to get to these levels. You can go up a level every 5 or 6 battles, more or less. After everyone is at level 45 (better train now than when we have to go up to level 50), save the game and leave Skure. Head southeast until you reach a small cave. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Dezoris Passageway 1

Dezoris is full of those small passageways. If you want, you don't need to keep fighting against every enemy now (but use Alis' Escape (ラクスタ) if you run, because the monsters usually block your way). Notice that there's a secret passageway with a Vulcan Ring (ウルカヌスの指輪), an excellent accessory for Odin. Don't forget to equip it on him. By the way, there are only four accessories in the game, one for each character, that can be equipped as additional items (accessories?), since until now we could only equip three items and one or two crystals. The accessories can be used as the fourth or fifth item, so be sure to pick them up. Go also get the 5000 Meseta. Leaving by the other side, head northwest and you'll find another passageway. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Dezoris Passageway 2

Here is just like the other passageway. Go to the secret passageway to get Europa's Earrings (エウロバの耳飾り) for Alis and equip it on her. Take also the chest with 5000 Meseta, use Alis' Escape if you want to run away from battles and leave by the other side. Head northwest and you'll find another cave. Notice that to the east of that cave there's a passageway blocked by ice. Remember it for later. For now, just enter the passageway. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Dezoris Passageway 3

The same thing from the other two passageways. Turn on the secret passageway (that's funny, it wasn't a secret passageway in the original game, but a regular bifurcation, but there wasn't a nice item like that), take Helen's Necklace (ヘレネの首飾り) for Myau, equip it on him and leave by the other side.

Leaving the cave, you'll be on a large area, which leads to a lot of other areas. For now, just go northeast until you reach another passageway. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Dezoris Passageway 4

Again, the same thing. The labyrinth is a little more complex and has more treasure chests. Be sure to go to the secret passageway and get Lucia's Mirror (ルシアの鏡) for Lutz and equip it on him. Then leave by the other side and you'll find another passageway. :D

Passageway to Aukba

You just have to go straight, there's no monsters. A dezorian will appear to prevent you from going, but he will notice that you have the Amber Eye (which we got from the Casba Dragon). He will say that he heard from Tajim (Lutz's master) that he should welcome those people and will let you through. Notice that someone forgot 10000 Meseta on the way. :D

The boring thing in that cave is that you gotta walk a long way. On the other side, you'll reach Aukba village. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Aukba

Weapon/Armor Shop

Item Meseta
Magic Staff 13200
Silk Quilt 8890
Laser Barrier 4150

Item Shop

Item Meseta
Ruoginin 150
Trimate 300
Sol Atomizer 250
Searchlight 80
Transer 120
Escaper 25
Atlas 150
Ice Digger 56200

This village is known as "the twin village". On the right side there are just liar dezorians and on the right side, just truthful dezorians. Before doing anything else, go to the item shop and buy the Ice Digger for 56200 meseta! Expensive, huh? But absolutely necessary. It's an ice digger (as the name implies) and it's for breaking some ice walls (like that one between the passageways number 2 and 3, but there's no point in going there right now). If you haven't bought that Light Pendant in Gothic (tsk tsk tsk!), buy two or three Searchlights. I don't remember which dungeons are illuminated or not here in Dezoris, so buy it for precaution. It's worth it to go to the weapon shop and buy a Magic Staff and a Laser Barrier for Lutz and a Silk Quilt for Myau. The Magic Staff, if used as an item in battle, invokes the spell Do-Heal, so I THINK that if you want, you can even buy one for Odin and he'll be able to use that spell, although I haven't tested it. Again, if you've followed my hints of levels and strategies so far, you probably won't have any problems with money. Now go to the hospital to heal who needs it. If you use the consult function here, Odin will say that we have to be careful because since a long time ago it's known that the dezorians are a bunch of liars. Alis will argue against him and Lutz will confirm what Odin just said, because he has also heard about that from Tajim. Then Alis will say: You too, Lutz? Geez... :D

Then talk to the townspeople three or four times each. Talk to them until their lines begin to repeat. Inside the houses too. Even if you don't know anything of Japanese, you can notice when their lines are repeating, right? Some dezorians with whom you'll speak will give important information about what to do from now on. For example, they'll talk about the Eclipse Torch, the Laerma Nut, the Guaron Morgue, the Corona Tower, etc. If you don't know what I'm talking about (unlikely, since someone who searches for this game probably knows the original from Master System), these items are the ones we'll need to go to some places we'll need to visit. The village's chief (a dezorian near the tunnel which leads to the village) says he'll liberate the entrance for the Guaron Morgue for us, where the key for the Frost Dragon cave is, another of the four sacred guardians! And we'll go there now. After talking to everyone, save the game and prepare yourself for a lot of labyrinths. :D

Go back to the town's entrance and leave on the other side. You'll be again in passageway number 4. Leaving on the other side, head southwest until you find passageway number 3 again, but don't enter it. From here, head north, then west, then north, then west... until you get tired and you'll eventually find the Guaron Morgue (am I the only one who thinks Morgue is a word which is as sinister as its meaning? :D). If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Guaron Morgue

If you talked to the dezorians in Aukba, the dezorian that appears here will let you through. I don't know if I'm seeing things, but here in the remake it seems like the zombies are women. If you're at level 45 and not wanting to fight, you can run away with ease. There are a lot of good treasures around the place. Check out what we have at point number 4 on the first floor! It's the best armor available for Odin! But notice that there is a snaky trap just before it. Before stepping there, open the menu and use Myau's Trap (ラプット) to disarm it and equip the armor on Odin. At point number 2 there's a Ripper, but I don't think it's a bit useful, but take it because you can sell it for 6000 Meseta. Now notice that according to what stairs you take, you'll be in a different area of the other map. You'll need to pick up the White Dragon Key and you want those 10000 Meseta, right? :D

None of the chests contain traps. After picking everything up, use the Soothing Flute (スーズフルート) to leave. Use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Aukba (アウクバルの村), heal everyone and save the game.

If you have 37500 Meseta (you probably do), I'll teach you a little trick that's very worth it now. Use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Skure's entrance (スクレ入り口) and use your spaceship to go back to Gothic (ガシコの村). From Gothic, use Teleport again to go back to Camineet (カミニート居住区). Go to the shop and buy a Thunder Crystal (タンドレクリスタル) and a Cure Crystal (キュアラクリスタル). Buy one of each for Alis, Myau and Odin (there's no point in buying any for Lutz). Joke's total = 37500 Meseta, but it's worth it! Equip one of each on them. Now use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Gothic (ガシコの村), and use your spaceship to go back to Skure (スクレの町). Use Teleport again to go back to Aukba (アウクバルの村) again.

Now leave Aukba and do the same thing we did until here, that is, enter passageway number 4 again. Leave by the other side, head southwest until you reach passageway number 3, but, again, don't enter. Go straight to the southwest. You'll find an ice wall. Press R1 to use your Ice Digger and break it. Keep moving west and you'll find the cave for which we got the key in the morgue. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Aero-Prism Cave

This cave is simple. The monsters here are strong. If you want to run away, use Alis' Escape (ラクスタ). First, turn left to take the Corona Tower Key (where we'll go later) at point number 1, then follow the standard way. At point number 2 there's a Sawcer for Lutz, but it's not worth it. But if you want to take it to sell it later, it's a good thing. At point number 3 you'll find the terrible Frost Dragon.

Well, with the strategy I'll give you it will be easy to defeat it. You know that lot of crystals we bought in Camineet? So, with them equipped, everything will be easier. On the first turn, instead of making Alis attack, go to the "Collabo" option of the menu and choose Thunderstorm (サンダーストーム). Myau must use Power (パウマ) on Odin. Odin must attack and Lutz must use Gi-Flare (ギフレエリ). Here's the deal: That Thunderstorm is a spell that paralyzes the enemy for some turns, and with that he won't cause you any harm! Unfortunately one of the crystals breaks as soon as it's used (you'll notice the sound of something breaking), so you'll probably only be able to use it once. You'll notice a symbol on the dragon, indicating that its status was changed. On the following turns, make Myau use Power on Alis and then on himself. When the paralyzing effect is gone, that symbol of changed status will be gone. When that happens, go to the "Collabo" option again and use Thunderstorm again, but this time with Myau. When the effect is gone again, this time Odin will be using it! When there's no more Thunderstorms, Myau must use Shield (ワーラ) and then Magic Shield (ムワーラ), and then he can keep attacking until the effect of the Shields are gone. Alis and Odin, except when they need to use Thunderstorm, must attack normally all the time and Lutz must use Gi-Flare all the time (and of course use Gi-Heal (ギヒール) to heal who needs it). The dragon is pretty strong, but with that strategy it will be easy to defeat him, even at level 45. :D

After winning against the Frost Dragon, you'll receive the Aero-Prism, which will be important soon. Using the consult function with L1, Myau will be excited, saying that now there's only one dragon left. He barely knows that that last dragon is harder than Lassic himself. :D

That talking is nice. I didn't understand it all, but Alis gets worried because they're already close to Lassic, and Odin says that she was pretty good so far, so that should be enough. Alis says that if he says anything else, she is going to kick his ass. :D Odin will be like Huh? and laugh, and Alis will say: Hehe, I'm kidding. But she promised Nero she would win against Lassic and Lutz commends Alis' strength. Myau says we still need to go to the Corona Tower, and we really do. Use the Soothing Flute (スーズフルート) to leave and use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Aukba (アウクバルの村), heal everyone and save the game. Before accomplishing our tasks, it's a good thing to level up again. :D

But hey, don't panic! It's the penultimate time I'll ask you to do that, so let's go on! Leaving the tunnel that leads to Aukba, we'll be in Dezoris passageway number 4. The place is great to level up in! Level up until level 50. Use a lot of Lutz's Gi-Thunder (ギタンドレ) and if you want, use Myau's Shield (ワーラ) in case you find a group of dezorians (since they usually shoot and take a lot of HP, but I, particularly, didn't use it). A group of five dezorians will give you 17852 experience points! And you may even have the luck of finding a group of 3 green flying creatures and a blue slime. This group is very easy to defeat (one of Lutz's Gi-Thunder already takes care of all of them, except for the slime) and gives you 19311 experience points (and maybe even a Sol Atomizer as a gift)! Be sure to use healing spells at the end of the battles to heal who needs it. If you run out of MP, heal at a hospital. Depending on the group of monsters you face, more or less after every 6 battles you gain a new level. Reaching level 50, go back to Aukba, heal everyone at the hospital and save the game.

Now we're going to Corona Tower. Leave Aukba, take Dezoris Passageway 5, and when you leave, once more go to the southwest until you reach passageway number 3, but don't enter it. Head to the west (without going up, otherwise we'll reach Guaron Morgue again) and you'll end up finding a little cave. Enter it.

Dezoris Passageway 5

This passageway is ridiculously simple, you just gotta go straight. At the beginning a dezorian will greet you and tell you to be careful (how sweet of him...), and in the middle of the way there's a treasure chest with a Monofluid. Leaving by the other side, be careful, because there are highly dangerous monsters in that area! If you wanna escape, use Alis' Escape (ラクスタ); I even recommend you to run away. Head northwest and you'll find Corona Tower. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Corona Tower

This tower is not too complicated, but there are a lot of strong enemies. If you want, keep using Alis' Escape (ラクスタ) to run away. Don't even try to run away normally because it's a bad move! On the first floor, just go straight to the stairs. On the second floor, just take the chest at point number 2, but be careful with the trap in the middle of the way! Use Myau's Trap (ラプット) to go through, then head to the stairs. On the third floor there are two great items to equip on Myau at points number 4 and 5, which are the Thick Fur (トゲリスの毛皮) and the Golden Tusk (ゴークデンタスク). Be sure to equip them. On the last floor, you just gotta go straight forever for a long away with 25 bends until you find the dezorian at the end. He will ask if you accept to trade your Amber Eye (which we got from the Casba Dragon long ago) for the Eclipse Torch. Answer "yes" (はい) and you'll receive the torch. But don't leave yet! Talk to the dezorian again. He will tell you that with the Eclipse Torch, you must find the Laerma Tree to get the Laerme Nut, an item that will be very important for the party, especially for Myau, who will not understand. Then talk to the dezorian once again and he will give you permission to enter that planet's last cave, the Laconian Shield Cave, which is the best shield available for Alis! If you don't talk to the dezorian and go to the cave, the dezorian there will prevent you from entering. I discovered that the hardest way possible. :D Use the Soothing Flute (スーズフルート) to leave and use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Aukba (アウクバルの村) and heal everyone. Then go to Dezoris passageway number 5 (just read it a little above, don't make me describe it all over again) again, and on the other side, instead of going northwest to Corona Tower, go southwest (although you'll need to go northwest a little bit) and you'll end up finding the last cave (cave, not tower :D)! If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Laconian Shield Dungeon

The dezorian that will appear at the entrance will tell you to turn left, but for Great Light's sake, don't do that! You don't want that! Just look at the map and you'll know what I'm talking about. You'll fall on five floors of traps! And you'll even fall on a place that's apparently without a way out (there's a secret way out, as the map shows). So turn right and go straight. I got a little bit lost in that cave because the person who made the maps forgot to include a ladder on the first floor (the corridor apparently without anything between the trap and the first ladder we took). You'll be there and if you don't turn right, you'll find the chest with the Ruoginin (ルオギニン). Honestly, the only chests that are worth opening are number 2 on the first floor (which contains a Psychic Barrier (サイキックバリア), which is great for Lutz), and number one on the last floor, which contains the shield. The rest of the chests contain meseta, and you won't even need them. Just like in Corona Tower, there are a lot of strong enemies here. If you want to run away, use Alis' Escape (ラクスタ). Don't waste your time trying to run away the conventional way. At the end you'll find the Laconian Shield (ラコニアンシールド). Don't forget to equip it on Alis. Use the Soothing Flute (スーズフルート) to leave and use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Aukba (アウクバルの村) and heal everyone.

Now do that boring thing I told you to do a thousand times. Leave Aukba, take passageway number 4, leave by the other side, head southwest until you reach passageway number 3, but this time you'll enter it. :D

The path is straight; you don't even need a map. Leaving by the other side, you'll see another ice wall. Press R1 to use your Ice Digger and break it. On the other side you'll find the famous Laerma tree, you'll instantly notice it's different from the other trees. You just gotta press the Circle button there and Alis will automatically use the Eclipse Torch to get the Laerma Nut, which she will store in the Laconian Pot, which we recovered after defeating Dr. Mad. The funny thing is that if you use the Consult function here, Myau will say it's like the fruit that Dr. Mad used before to seduce him! Alis gets a little angry and tells him not to fall to the temptation and he answers: Hehe, that's ok, I can control myself! :D

Use it again and Alis will say that now they better go back to Palma, and Odin will mention we should talk to Hashim (Eppi village's chief, if you don't remember him) again. I'm very happy to tell you that we can leave Dezoris to never return anymore! :D

Use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go back to Skure's entrance (スクレ入り口) and go back to Gothic (ガシコの村). From here, use Teleport again to go to Eppi (エピの村) and go to Hashim's house. He'll ask if the party wants to go to the Baya Malay tower (the worst of your nightmares) and Odin will say yes. He'll say we need to find Damor, the elder, and that he has an important crystal (Damor's Crystal) which we'll need to face Lassic. Hashim talks about Lutz and says he knows everything about him, that he is Tajim's disciple and everything. Anyway, after a long talk, it's time for you to go to the Baya Malay Tower, but before that you'll have to go through the Troa Checkpoint. Before you do anything, open the menu and check if Lutz has a spell called Open (ムオーデ). If he has, great (here he has). If he doesn't, go to Scion to talk to Faith (I explained where her house is on our first visit to Scion, at the beginning of this walkthrough). It seems that unlocks something. You can use Alis' Teleport to go straight to Scion (シオンの湊町). Heal everyone at a hospital and save the game. Now you just gotta leave Scion and go a little north to find the Troa Checkpoint. Do you accept some advice? Before doing that, go back to Camineet (it's so close that you can go walking), and buy those crystals again. The crystals usually break as soon as they're used, but rarely do two of them break at the same time. Verify on the menu which ones Alis, Myau and Odin are equipped with. To do the Thunderstorm (and we'll need it), you must have a Thunder Crystal (タンドレクリスタル) and a Cure Crystal (キュアラクリスタル). If Alis is without the Thunder Crystal, buy her a Cure crystal and vice versa, same with Myau and Odin. After buying the crystals (you probably have money for that, because after buying them I still had more than 100 thousand meseta), equip them, head to the north of Scion and enter the Troa Checkpoint. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave (as Passageway to Baya Malay 1).
